Well Mares can do both though. He can box or slug plus he has a much better chin than Montiel.

Mares has a very good jab too and we saw how Vasquez Jr. who is a small guy kept stopping Donaire with his jab.

LOL. I always have my doubts when fights like this get made in this day and age between to quality fighters, because in general most are too scared to risk a defeat. Thats why I wasn't the least bit surprised when Rios-Gamboa was canceled. I always had my doubts Froch-Bute would happen, now it has Bute has got a big rebuilding job to get his his career back on track.

Damn, glad this one is official now! I have Moreno winning by UD, but Mares is no joke. Hopefully everything is on the up and up and we get a good fight with fair judging. Major props to both dudes for accepting the fight.

    Huge credit to Mares
Anselmo is unknown out of the hardcore fans and he brings all the tools to make it ugly and pull the upset ,damn he could even make mares the underdog in this fight. And he brings no money at all. The fans and money are behind Mares.
From a business point of view is the worse match up,no to mention he same day other 2 elite SBW are facing off as the undercard of a good night of boxing.
I wonder why GBP doesn't do the same with canelo who is always looking at the risk reward factor?

    37 yr old narvaez....not impressed.

african i never heard of....not impressed.

another 37 yr old in nishioka...i recognize jhonny gonzales who wasn't exactly in his prime when he fought him...and rafa marquez who should have retired after the fights with israel vazquez....

moreno is way better than narvaez and will school donaire.

mares is a more winnable fight for donaire.

rigondeaux may not have the resume but he wanted to fight rafa marquez 2-3 yrs ago. marquez turned that fight down and for good reason.

if the opponents would step up to face rigondeaux that would eliminate this bull**** excuse about him not having a resume. they don't just give out gold medals. he's got two.

if that first fight was on the level agbeko wins it. it wasn't...so i can't call that a win for mares.

the 2nd fight....again...homecourt advantage....favorable ref who gave agbeko a stern warning from the beginning to let him know he would receive no justice that night...u could see the life leave agbeko when that happened. i like him but mares is dirty. don't make excuses for him.

i think it had more to do with all those intentional low blows he was throwing.

Audley Harrison had a gold medal and look how well he's doing in the pro's. As things stand at the moment Rigondeaux best win is a SD over Cordoba. I don't read much into his wins over Kennedy and Ramos because they was basically overrated prospects. Much like his next opponent. And if Cordoba can drop Rigondeaux, Donaire can. He's never faced anyone even remotely close to the level of ability Donaire, Mares, Nishioka have.

Vazquez Jr and Mathbula are far better than Rigo's opponents. Mathebula, for example took Celestino Cabellero to the limit a couple of years ago when he was in the RING pound for pound top 10.

I believe Rafa turned down the fight because he had a much bigger fight with Juan Manuel Lopez. Noone knew Rigondeaux and Lopez was on pound for pound lists, so a win for Marquez over Rigo would of been one step forward whereas a loss would be ten steps back- it was vice versa with Lopez.

However I wouldnt mind seeing Rigondeaux against the likes of Montiel, the Vazquez Jr-Marquez winner or Joseph Agbeko now to see if he can hang with the big boys as a pro.

Why is Moreno better? because he's slick and black? :admin NAH..there were reports that his fights are boring to watch.Donaire's boring as well.Moreno get's cred for schooling a shop worn Darchinyan? And check this next fight.Another

midget. At least Donaire fights 5'11 Mathebula.

Donaire can't fight 12 rounds spectacularly. He's one of those guys that look great when he KTFO his opponent, but looks

**** if he has to box 3 X12 rounds, if his opponent gets up from being dropped.Similar to Manny, these Latinos and Africans just wont

stay down. They're crafty too, Narvez is a nightmare to box just like Marquez is for Manny. Pacquiao has more of that

Go for broke whirlwind style which is more pleasing to watch than Borenito.

I can see either guy winning this fight but my money is on moreno for his boxing ability, if its close the judges will give it to Mares.

People say donaire looks ordinary, I say bull****, he's hard to hit at times, is accurate as **** and he hits hard. I haven't seen any of his opponents win 3 rounds against him at the most. He's fighting champion calibre opponents something Rigondeaux hasn't really done. I give Mares credit for his fights, after Nishioka he's the only one that has earned a fight with donaire, unfortunately there is a feud between promotional companies so it probably won't happen. I think Arum knows that Rigondeaux isn't marketable and will probably just feed him to Donaire at some point.
