Well this is a pretty easy fight to predict the winner imo, but I would like to know what people think the final outcome will be? I am personally taking Mares for the tko somewhere in the 5-8 round range. I think his crisp and accurate punching is going to stop Gabi, who has **** defense.
Predictions? Or possibly anyone going for the upset?

Gabi had serious problems at the weigh-in and Mares is just a great talent...

It's a good fight and both guys are good but I have to go with Mares in 8.

Excellent news on the weigh-in for my under bet on this fight :D .
I think Mares is a future star. He is very smooth and fluid in the ring, and throws extremely accurate and textbook punches

Mares is the fastest fighter i'd ever seen - man don't blink when this guy lets his hands go.

I believe I saw Mares fight one time on HBO BAD I think it was on the undercard of soto guzman if I remember correctly. Mares should win I would say he impressed me..

Mares looked like a beast his last fight on HBO, if only he had more power. I'm picking him to win. He looks like a future champ.

i officially picked mares by wide decision. but i do admit that a ko win is likely. i think he'll just keep the shorter gabi outside and pick his shots from there.

Easy pick mares by tko. Gabi is just another meal for mares.

But i do like if gabi upsets mares.

Gabi is weight drained and too small for this weight class.

    Mares by decision.

    Still, don't count Gabi out.

I'm surprised how high on Mares everyone is. Yes, Gabi is small at 118 and got knocked out by Darchinyan a few weight classes below. But he's improved since that time and could give Mares some problems. Mares has no power and he gets hit too much. I doubt he will become anything close to an elite fighter. His skills are solid, but not sensational and his speed is very good, but his defense needs work and I think he will have major problems dealing with B level pressure fighters. His last fight on the Guzman undercard wasn't very impressive. He showed a lot of faults and if he had any real power Marchiano would be out of there before the 6th round. Gabi has some power, so it will be interesting to see what happens if Mares gets caught flush.

Good luck on the under. The weighin situation seems like a very good thing for your bet. But I still think Mares doesn't have enough power to stop a live fighter like Gabi, especially if Gabi gives him some problems during the fight. If that happens, he will start boxing a safer fight and stop going for the stoppage.

Did you take my suggestion on Jauregui at +275 last night? :D
