    Russell Jr wins. Mares has honestly looked bad since losing to Gonzalez. His offense doesn't have the pop it used to have and his defense has been non-existent.

    You can't put much stock in triangle-theory in boxing, no...

    BUT, Mares has looked bloody awful since the loss to González.

    (at least, awful by the standards of the p4p elite he used to be)

    He's still yet to ever beat a prime, real natural featherweight. Like, ever.

    I favor Russell.

    I always thought Gonzalez caught Mares cold and wouldn't hold on to that belt for too long. Too much young blood at 126 for him to hold onto it.
