Or maybe every 20 years, there is no good competition in the division;)

I always been a huge fan of Tyson. But i gotta say the guys he beat was no better than the guys Klitscko have beat so far

NOT serious in that one, right?
Another "not serious in that one, right?" comment.... The K bros would've been beaten both the same night by Tyson in his prime, and as far as cuban fighters..... what have they done in the sport lately, I mean, Rigo, Gamboa??? Furthermore, what have they done @ HW???.... not to mention that the fu**ing wall was gone some 20 YEARS AGO!!!!!!!

that's the problem with quite a few americans, they're not interested unless it's an american boxer. i hope a great heavyweight does come very soon even though i can't see it happening any time soon as i'm very aware of the amateur scence, and theres no one there at the moment that has really caught my eye. nationality doesn't matter when you're a boxing fan like myself.

I think Tyson's 80s competition was better than Wlad or Vitaly's current competition.

I sense BigReg is joining us shortly to tell us it is Vitali Klitschko because he lives in LA or Wlad because he's enjoying his stay at that midget's NY apartment.

In terms of career accomplishments, yes - but Tyson did enter the public consciousness in a way that fighters like Dempsey, Louis, Marciano, or Ali did.

If you were to ask most people to name some HW champs, who do you think they would name? Guys like Tyson and Ali, and before that Marciano, Louis and Dempsey.

"The boxers seemed willing enough to fight but neither one knew enough about the manly art of self defense to make a good showing, the crowd hooted until the referee ordered them from the ring." New York Times

"Lahaye's professional debut. The Montreal Athletic Commission ordered Lewis's share of the purse withheld when he took a "flop" in the fifth, after taking a weak punch to the head. The fall to the matt was more clumsily accomplished, the fighter getting to his feet on the count of nine and, after a few more weak blows to the head from Lahaye, stayed down until the count of ten." Montreal Gazette

And in eight of the listed bouts, BoxRec isn't sure if it was really him!
    Overrated, indeed!

Doubtful. Why would the next heavyweight star be under Stacey's stewardship? His level of promotion the type of pathetic club-fighting level that a lot of people could achieve if they tried.

Maybe it's like genetics what sometimes skips one generation... so just wait until 2025 when the next one arrives.

Of course! KJ, why didn't we see that... Ali had the 'rope-a-dope', Kevin had the 'rope-a-run'... brilliant! :bbbAnd after beïng robbed in his 12 rounder against Vitali, he even had enough left to take on his brother Wlad! The man is a genius and maybe even the best ever! :good

Chris Byrd was the Ring's #1 HW for 2005. It's settled then. Chris Byrd was the last ATG American HW.
