Can anyone with any experience with this type of headgear tell me if it's still possible to get hit in the eye with this type of headgear on?

Because I have a certain eye condition, my eyes cannot take even the smallest amount of pressure from a glove, and I just wanted to know if I am safe wearing the mexican style headgear.

I don't really have experience with "mexican style" headgear, and probably wouldn't notice the difference. But if you're worried about your eyes I would suggest a full face headgear.

I will say though that fightgear makes excellent headgears

It is possible to take contact to the eye even with mexican style headgear, the chances are lower but its still there. If you cant take any contact maybe you should think about getting a cage headgear or a visor headgear.

    With this: http://www.fighters-inc.com/head-guard-avantgarde-black-product-4060

seems like it might be a good option, kind of pricey but you don't want to take a chance. Here's a video with those two combined

I personally don't like the cage headgear, i have the FightGear cage headgear and it is extremely uncomfortable. It did a good job of protecting my face when i had a badly broken nose though.

Is this a good idea? Man you should seriously clear this with your doctor.

You need either a plastic shield or a cage. Even then headgear can spin on your head and possibly put pressure on your eyeball.

Seriously man... think this through. Is any sport worth your sight?

Yeah man, I wouldn't risk my eyesight. It sounds like you have a pretty serious condition. Check with your doc first.
