I just finished watching Edison Miranda vs David Banks (What a knockout!)on ESPN Classic and was wondering why didn't they fight?
HBO didn't approve the fight(because they thought Miranda would dismantle Pascal). In hindsight seemed like a foolish thing to do.
IIRC, it's because Pascal kept hurting his shoulders, and by the time his health got back on track, he started to develop a legitimate following in Montreal.

Yup, Miranda looked spectacular and PAScal **** the bed. They didn't think it would sell. Too bad cause it would have been one hell of a coming out party for PAscal. That being said the rejection probably went a long way to Pascal growing as a fighter.
It was being built up as a good fight. There is a video on warriorsboxing.com at their 1st press conference when miranda walked up to the podium and push Pascal, nearly knocked him and the podium over. Miranda was pulled away and Pascal kept talking on the microphone saying 'Im gonna whip your black ass so bad" Funny as crap. Then Pascal almost got KTFO by Omar Pittman and the whole idea went down the drain.
Yeah Pascal needed surgery on his shoulder (rotator cuff?) that took him out of this fight and a Zuniga fight IIRC. It certainly was interesting to watch Pascal try to look tough after Miranda damn near decapitated Banks. The throat slicing gesture was a nice touch.
