Ok there are talk of Floyd fighting Pac in a re-match. It's been 5 months, and Floyd was almost immediately taken of p4p lists universally. Ring mag however Let ward stay inactive for 18 months? Then they take him off. So why again is Floyd off everyone's p4p lists? Why did we take a fighters word for it when they say they are retired? In boxing more than any other sport saying you are retired is like a women saying she's swearing off chocolate for ever. So why didn't everyone just wait 12 months, or so, and then remove him.....wait it's only been five, and he's been off the lists for months now. Also Oscar's distaste for Floyd is no secret. IMO that would explain the hasty move to remove Floyd from their paper rankings, and yes magazines are made of paper. I used to patiently wait every month for the latest copy of the Ring, and KO mag. Back when the glossy paper only a few pages, and most of it was newspaper stock, and only cost 3.50. It was a good unbiased source then, and That is precisely why the Ring belt carried so much weight. The transitional rankings have replaced them, but they also have removed Floyd. Is this based on some criteria, or just because Ring did it?
Correct, but what is really retirement in Boxing? Who actually does that aside from Lewis, and Hagler? Why follow such criteria when Boxing retirements are so flimsy. What constitutes "Retired". Just saying it is laughable in boxing. As soon as Floyd comes out of retirement everyone will instantly put him back at p4p #1, and then again instantly remove him once the post fight interview is complete, and he says "I'm retired again". Sorry dumb criteria. 12-18 months inactivity makes more sense in a sport when a fighter can change his mind in a few months as many do.
There have been some times where I have questioned how they do their ratings, but I guess people have to remember that these ratings are possibly made up by opinion that can go in any direction, so can possibly not mean much
