I remember Hopkins landing a butt, running and holding all night, and then somehow winning a wide decision.

What are some of the skills and tricks I didn't notice that I should watch for?

Wright was winnning early on from what I rememberr, then Wright started crying about headbutts and it seemed Hops just took the fight out of him and then outboxed and outfought him to a clear decision. No controversy in this one. Wright is not cut out for 170lbs, and he just didn't have enough late in the fight.

What I remember is that after round 8 I was 100% sure that my bet (Hopkins by decision) was a winner.

Wright came in a bit out of shape. I think he could have beat hopkins if he came in top form with a high work rate but he was a dumb ass and didnt take it seriously. Really pissed me off as a wright fan because I think he could have had it.

Rd 1, Wright lands 10 punches to Hopkins 7, Wright pressing the action the whole time. Hopkins lands one clean punch though, a short right inside. Not enough to win the rd, 10-9 Wright. Lederman gave it to Hopkins, so does Steward for the clean right hand.

Rds 2-4, Wright pressing the action, outlands and outhustles Hopkins, Hopkins holding a lot and trying to move but looking slow, lands headbutt that cuts Wright in rd 3, Wright wins rd anyway. Lederman gives 2, 3, and 4 to Wright, as do Lampley and Steward. Hard to argue with. I have it 4-0 Wright.

rd 5, Hopkins does a little shoeshining, most landing on Winkys gloves, struggling to land a clean punch. Winky lands a solid left hand flush, Hopkins doesn't blink, lands another clean left hand in an exchange at the bell. Wright two clean punches not enough, Hopkins activity wins the rd.

compubox had Wright landing more clean punches, have to rewatch that one...it is true most of Hopkins flurries were caught on the gloves.

I htought it shouldve been much closer than they had it, winky was actually pressing the action effectively. but 170 is not place for winky

rd 6, Winky pressing, Hopkins holding a lot, not moving as much this rd, Winky gets the better of the inside fighting imo, referee separates the fighters while theyre trading hooks to the body! wtf?! Hopkins flurries on the gloves. WInky 10-9.

edit, Lederman gave theat to Wright as well, has it 4-2 Wright at this stage, I have it 5-1 Wright.

rd 7, more or less lost interest.

Hopkins is holding so much the fight is becoming unwatchable. Referee warned both fighters for some reason around rd 4, hasn't mentioned the holding to Hopkins since.

Gave rd to Wright, at least he's trying to fight. Hopkins punches are all pitty patter stuff, Wright has more authority on his punches.

Beginning of rd 8, Hopkins runs in with another butt/clinch, not even behind a punch this time, WInky grimaces, referee tells Wrights 'youre alright', says nothing to Hopkins.

rd 8, 10-9 Hopkins. Wright looks tired, not carrying the weight well. Hopkins does more shoeshining and lands a couple of authoratitive lead rights. A few pretty obvious headbutts in this rd imo.

    6-2 Wright.

edit, Lederman has it 5-3 Wright.
