Yeah it's virtualy a pick em between the Ruelas and Rodriguez fights but I choose Rodriguez cuz Gatti was younger,it lasted longer amd his eyes were swollen shut
ANDREW GOLOTA: 1 - What was his greatest performance IYO? This content is protected 2 - What was his most exciting fight IYO? This content is protected 3 - What was his most disappointing/under-par performance IYO? (not including performances when truly shot IYO) This content is protected
Vassiliy Jirov 1- His fight with James Toney 2- His fight with James Toney 3- The loss to Joe Mesi. His career really depended on that fight. He had a garanteed win but he ran out of time. In another way, thank god it was a 10 rounder or else Mesi could have died.
Id say Corey Sanders would be his greatest imo. Corey was a big up and comer and Golota went in there and demolished him. Bowe and Corey were boxers that never knew when to quit vs Golota.... and got punished severely for it. Thats why Bowe now is pretty much brain damaged and Corey is blind in one eye.
Arthur Abraham 1. his fight vs. Kingsley Ikeke. 2. his fight vs. Kofi Jantuah/Edison Miranda I. 3. his fight vs. Ayala/Elcock/Gardner (all about on the same level).
My picks for Duran... Best- Sugar Ray Leonard I or Iran Barkley Most Exciting- Sugar Ray Leonard I, highest quality fight I've ever seen Most disappointing- Leonard II. Followed by Benitez. He should've won that one.
Miguel Cotto 1. Carlos Quintana (gave Quintana a good beating.) 2. Ricardo Torres (had Cotto hurt and on the canvas, but Cotto came back) 3. I've never been disappointed in Cotto, but i have not seen his early fights.
David Haye. 1. Greatest Performance - Mormeck, going to the No.1 in the divisions back yard and KOing him after being KD himself. 2. Most Exciting - Enzo Mac - Huge build up in the UK and demolished him inside 2. 3. Worst - Obviously Thompson
Favorite Boxer - Tim Whitherspoon Greatest performance - [2] Bruno, Holmes most exciting fight - his ko of James Broad ..[ round 2 ] under par/worst performance - getting stopped by James Smith in the first round ...
Oscar De La Hoya This content is protected 1. Vs. Felix Trinidad (What a Boxing lesson) This content is protected 2. Vs. Ike Quartay/Fernando Vargas (Old school Slugfest's) This content is protected 3. Vs. Felix Sturm (Proves ODLH should have never been a MW)
Somewhat controversially, I do agree to an extent with the choice of Trinidad. After 9 rounds I felt I was witnessing a boxing masterclass. True, it was not DLH at his brawling best nor was it the most exciting fight, but I thought it was a calm, composed, calculated boxing control of a big, powerful, quality opponent. I had him 8-1 up after 9, and though he still won clearly 8-4 on my card, the sacrifice of those last 3 rounds rule it out as his very best performance. For Oscar's best performance I'd say it's Vargas, followed by Hernandez (32-0-1) and Quartey (34-0-1). Vargas has the edge because of the size difference, and the build-up, and the stoppage, and the trouble he'd given Trinidad at times in their fight. And Vargas most exciting too. Most disappointing? I was disappointed in his inability to impose himself on Sweet Pea, but you can't be too critical when he was facing one of the most talented fighters in history. I'd go with Mosley I or Mayweather. If he had had enough stamina to maintain his attacks and had kept working the jab, he'd have got the decision v Mayweather, who seemed quite lethargic to me, and he just didn't perform on the night in the 1st Mosley fight. Those were the only nights of his career I was disappointed though. Hopkins was just too big and strong, and DLH fought well til the bodyshot. No-one gets up from a sweet bodyshot.
