Abraham bailed Dirrell out. Why did you hit the man while he was down Arthur???

    A fight is 12 rounds... not 10 1/2

I really do think that AA was fastly imposing himself on Dirrell, and that had Dirrell made it out of round 11, round 12 would have been the longest one of his career. AA was starting to find his target more, and was finding Dirrell in the corner more and more. It would not have suprised me had AA closed the show in style and stopped Dirrell in all honesty.

That being said, it didnt happen, and Dirrell won.... and also the fact that Dirrell put on a masterclass boxing clinic for the majority of the fight should also be noted.

Excellent counter crosses, excellent counter southpaw jabs over AA's own jab, great use of distance, excellent speed, nice combos, great uppercuts (showing intelligent punch selection), improved footwork, nice ring generalship (along with masterful switches from orthodox to southpaw), good defence (though he still needs to work on that backing up with chin exposed, he can do that against AA because aa is very much a shorter, less rangier fighter, he does that enough against guys his own size in the future and he may find himself on the canvas)

Dirrell showed great skills and good poise in there for the first half of the fight, and nothing should be taken from that. Despite opinions, nobody knows how the fight would have played out, but AA was indeed making it very, very rough in there and we all know how one round can make all the difference in the world sometimes, and with a puncher like AA, and someone who is starting to get hit more, finding themselves in the corner, and getting tired out, whos to say.

Im actually sad for both fighters in a weird way. AA for losing his undefeated record in such a manner, and for him deciding (or reacting) to do such a thing, and for Dirrell to be (if it is indeed the case) hurt from a shot that shouldnt have been thrown and a very unworthy ending to such a performence.

I hope both can move on from this and i will be rooting for these two to make it to the finals. (though i dont think AA will get there)

I don't think it is fair to say it is most likely.

Was Dirrell feeling the pressure? Yes, definitely - in later rounds it all got very difficult, especially after he was KDed in round 10. Would Arthur have upped it even more in the remaining 2 minutes of round 11 and (if still standing) in round 12? Yes, he would - BUT - Dirrell was imo. not totally out of it. He was still avoiding much, and I lean towards a survival.

About 60-40 that Abraham would not stop Dirrell in the end like he has so many others...

to be honest I agree with the thread. Dirrell was winning and all he had to do to survive, but 5 minutes when he is tired and had a puncher in front of him who can knock him out with one punch is tough. I do not think he faked the punch at all. I thought Dirrell was legit hurt. I am not sure Abraham would have won the fight, but he did this to himself. He hit him when he was down and Dirrell was hurt and Abraham DQed. It was Abraham's fault.

Great post, Nallege. Dirrell faking or not - it's solely AA's fault that he was disqualified. The 0 is gone and he only can accuse himself for that. Dirrell was on the way to a shut-out, but you never know...we all know that AA can turn/decide a fight within a blink of an eye.
