That's what Pantera told me last week: "He is closer to weight now for this fight then he was for the Pavlik fight 2 days before weigh in.":rasta
I wouldn't know but I can safely assume that it means he's healthy and lean. He seems to be very focused.
The weight has been everyone's biggest worry since this fight got made. He is using a special nutrientist to help him get ready for this fight, and the last I heard from training camp is he is doing great and on target to hit weight with no problems. What happened leading up to the Pavlik fight is down right disgusting. He learned his lesson and is know doing what is right for his body. I honestly believe is he makes the weight the correct way and keeps his strength he is going to destroy Abraham. On the other hand, if he has to struggle and loses some of his power, it is going to be a long hard night. At 100%, Miranda is a force and after this fight, the bandwagon is going to fill back up. Odo/Big Bone, etc... get your ticket now before the train hits full strength. :good
I am curious to see how the move up in weight will effect Abraham honestly you would think they would have set up a tune up fight to test the water but they didnt so are they just trying to cash in now or do they really feel they can beat Miranda?
Abraham needed an opponent is the USA to get on HBO or Showtime. Since he is basically unknown here, he needed a big name opponent to get the networks to broadcast it. There is nobody in the middleweight that really fits this (except for Pavlik). It is a win/win for both fighters. Miranda gets Abraham outside of Germany at a more comfortable weight to get his revenge. Abraham gets his USA debut in a big fight and does not risk his belt. If he loses, he can blame it on the extra weight and go back to Germany with his belt and continue to defend it and make good money.
And if he wins, he's got a great chance to get into the ring with the undisputed champ at 160...btw panther, any news about the rebroadcast of the first fight on SHO?
Exactly... Abraham wants Pavlik and needs this fight to get him there. No, I am trying ot find out more, but I dont think they have made a decision yet. The last I heard is they are going to start by showing clips and highlights during the upcoming fights. And finally showing the entire fight sometime before the rematch. I do not know if this means the same day or week(s) before. I will post here as soon as I know.
Brief interview with "King" Arthur Abraham: Q: King Arthur, with two weeks between now and the fight, how is your shape? AA: “I am already in a very, very good shape. Everything has gone perfectly in the last couple of weeks.” Q: Has the preparation for the Miranda fight been different from the other fights? AA: “It is an advantage for me that I already know Miranda. I know how I will fight against him and that is why I know how to prepare. It gives me even more security..” Q: The weight limit will be 166 pounds which means you do not have to watch your weight that carefully this time out. Is that good for you? AA: "Definitely. I feel even stronger. Making weight can be a real torture but I do not have to do it this time.” Q: In the past your coach Ulli Wegner has pointed out that you always need some time to get into the fight. What will it be like on June 21? AA: “I know that I have to be more active from the first bell on. It is also important to stay concentrated. Miranda is a guy who makes you pay for mistakes. But I will not give him a chance to do so. I will win.” Q: You will be travelling over on June 10. Is it your first visit to the US? AA: “No, I have been there once when Valuev fought Monte Barrett. I worked as a TV expert for German television. But that was in Chicago and this time we will be in Miami. You cannot really compare the two cities. It does not matter to me, though, as my full concentration is on the fight.” Q: Why are you heading over so early? AA: “There are several reasons. I want to get used to the time difference and avoid a jetlag. And I want to adjust to the climate.” Q: You will be quite busy with all the practice sessions but is there something you would like to do in your spare time? AA: “Of course I will take a few walks in Miami. But the sightseeing has to wait until after the fight.” Q: The fight against Miranda is certainly a special one. What makes it so special for you? AA: “In the first meeting the broken jaw kept me from showing my true potential. I will make up for that on June 21.” This content is protected
OK... Like I posted earlier, Showtime will be playing for the first time in American the original, controversal, fight of Miranda vs Abraham I. This fight took place in Sept 2006 in Wetzlar Germany. Never before has it been shown here in America. Watch the madness and judge for yourself: (redone in with English commentary) June 16th on Showtime II at 10pm est June 19th on Showtime II at 10pm est June 21st on Showtime at 6pm est (same day as the rematch!)
Well, this is the question. He KNOWS it but does he KNOW it? Kind of like a tiger changing his stripes. I hope is more active though. Of all fights, this one REALLY needs to be settled in the ring. :yep
He knows it but once he feels that power again he will go right back into that shell and be in reverse the entire night, much like the last fight AA will be in survival mode.
I'm just happy that he acknowledges that he has to change his basic tactics. I know myself and others have said this a numerous times. This should make for an even better fight.
