I want to give my outcome of this round 2 bout in the super 6 tourney before the hype starts a week or 2 before the contest starts. Alot of people think that dirrell's speed and movement will give AA more than he can handle, but I disagree and beleive that the king will knock Dirrell out. Dirrell was able to land on froch because of carl's absent defense, but andre didn't land with great frequency as most state and without alot of authority( bar the 10th rd ) AA however, deploys a concrete guard and studies his opponent carefully to set up very very effective aggression. In addition, I see that Dirrell leaps in alot with just one punch here and one punch there. Abraham is going to be able to negate 90% of dirrell's offense while gaining an advantage of picking his power punches both up and downstairs to the fragile dirrell. Also, remember or know that AA isn't a crude predictable puncher, but a well schooled and trained fighter with more big fight experience than the young dirrell. Dirrell may be safe in the first half of the fight as he is the faster combatant, but as we saw in the taylor fight that AA is very surprising in the later rounds and can set up sneaky shots that turns his opponents light out. I beleive that dirrell will be no exception. Remember, froch as slow and predictable as he is was still able to catch andre on occasion and impose his will the majority of the rounds which won him an unpopular but just decision in many non biased fans eyes. While AA's style is alot different than froch's the fact still remains that dirrell is hittable, and adding to the fact that dirrell is still a little suspect in the chin dept means a disaster going up against a clever and one punch KO artist in abraham. I might be wrong but going over this fight in my head I just see AA being able to outsmart dirrell enough to get where he needs to be to able unload while dirrell can't stop it. AA KO 9-11
I may even agree to a point with this except he will not ko dirrell and dirrell survives on points in a close one....
I hope you're right! I like the King's attitude and fighting style... but from what I've seen of Dirrell, let's just say I'd definately enjoy watching him get starched. I still think Dirrell is gonna make it a tough night somehow for AA... and the fans.
something I worked on while bored, should be an interesting fight to say the least: This content is protected
I think Dirrell has all of the tools to beat AA, blistering fast hands, boxes well on the outside and possesses great upper body movement and very quick feet. Only problem I have is that he does rely on clinching a lot, and AA is not the guy to clinch with or get close with period for that matter. I don't know, toss up for right now
Froch was not going to Dirells body, he is a head hunter at best. AA will dig to Dirells body early, which I think will take its effects later on in the rounds. Good analysis TS.
Hopefully the switch that got flipped against Froch in the later rounds is still in the "on" position.
Yeah..I mean he did have some good moments in that fight, and his hands were very fast. By tournament rules the ring size is 20x20 which should give Dirrell room to move and box. Abraham explodes out of his shell though and Dirrell better be in and out and keep his guard up.
Like I said in my other post, some others lesser boxers have lasted against AA. So far AA looks to be more assertive at 168. Probably feels stronger. His last year at 160 was not good because of weight problems. He also doesn't have at title and can't get away with laying on the ropes with his guard up waving the opponent in.
I like Dirrell with the upset. AA is not one to really press the fight, so I think Dirrell will be more comfortable in the ring against AA than in the Froch fight. Dirrell will keep this fight on the outside and outwork and outland AA. Unless he gets caught with a bomb, I think Dirrell takes this.
