**Abraham/Dirrell Round by Round**

IMO, on some level he may have known he was hitting a downed fighter, but it honestly seemed more like pure momentum on Arthur's part. Just fighter's instinct...you see an opening and you take it.

How he handled it in the aftermath was not the height of class and grace, but honestly the act itself didn't seem outright dirty like Barrera staring at Marquez for a second, sizing him up, and then pounding him while down. This was just a heat of the moment thing where Abraham got caught up and did the wrong thing in the blink of an eye. He acted before thinking, not after - which is where "malicious intent" comes into play. It's still doing the wrong thing but it's a different degree of wrong depending on whether it's premeditated or "second degree" (which seemed to be the case, as he was mid-swing with the other hand as Dirrell did his strange slip/center split and already in combination punching rhythm).

He deserves the DQ loss, but not some of the spiteful talk. Although he didn't help his case in winning back any hearts or minds with his interview.

As for Dirrell...yeah, it was a delayed reaction to the punch but we see that all the time. Arthur (and any fans) claiming he was acting is to me just sour grapes and refusal to take responsibility for making a rash mistake. Just admitting that he acted on savage instinct before it could fully register that "opponent is down...against rules to hit...danger, Will Robinson..." would acquit him better in the court of public opinion than just deflecting blame altogether. That, IMO, was the true foolish and cheap move on Abraham's part tonight (as, like I said, the punch itself did not appear to have time to have been premeditated).

Dirrell was ****ed up. He thought he lost by KO. His brains were scrambled.

Are there any reports of how he's doing now?

How many points is that for dirrell in the super 6 and I am assuming dirrell is also the champion??

Unfortunately, I don't have any news on Dirrell's condition. I bet we'll find out soon, hope he's ok.

easy for you guys to say. abraham knew he had dirrel hurt in the 10th round so of course hes gonna come out in the 11th with the urgency to ko dirrel.with that being said, id like to see you stop a freight train in motion.

 

The interview is what had me worried about his health. The guy has a concussion and, hopefully, not worse.

 

Good assessment. I agree on all points, especially the point about Dirrell often going down as in the Froch fight. I think basically Abraham was at a point of desperation where he needed to get as many shots in as he could and hope for a knockout blow. I knew it, he knew it, Dirrell knew it, anybody watching could see it. Although he wasn't necessarily processing all of this at the time... it was a point where Dirrell POSSIBLY was down, but Abraham was willing to take a shot rather than use restraint because he needed to damage Dirrell in any way possible. So, he took the shot and, if he got a point deducted, big ****ing deal, since he was already out of it on the cards. He was simply OUT OF TIME in terms of waiting around. So, all of those factors came together and unfortunately the shot crippled Dirrell. All I know is that the last four and a half minutes were going to be very interesting.

Dirrell Will receive 2 points for the win. He did not KO or TKO his opponent so the bonus point will not come into play.
Dirrell is no champ at the moment as Abraham did not hold a belt. I think you may be getting confused with Abraham's middleweight tite which he vacated in order to mve to 168 and join the super 6.

 

Correct. Abraham was middleweight champion, not supermiddleweight.
