These guys, with what they do, of course they are going to tell themselves and other people some lies after a beating like that. How do you get into the ring against a top class opponent again after being utterly thrashed and outclassed by someone as beatable as Froch? The mental adjustment involved in believing your "the man" after a doing like that must be insane. These guys, they all like to themselves at one point or another to get over that rope. It comes off as odd, but check them out, these top men, they always always say some weird **** in the month directly after a total shellacking like that. It's just a part of the mental adjustment.

his problem is he throws 5 punches a round.
I really don't understand the point of him keeping his high-guard for 99% of the fight and hoping to land just one big shot to end the fight. He takes a good punch and is lethal with both hands, got pretty fast hands when you consider how much power each punch he throws carries. What if he just bombards his opponent once the bell rings and walk them down, eat a couple of punches to land one, and most of the time he only needs one. i feel if he becomes a pressure fighter overnight he'd have great success since even if he lands on the other guy's gloves, shoudlers, ribs, or w/e he'd be doing some seious damage.

Must have been a phone interview.

Why did he say he has no honor and where did he say this?

Instead of Wagner disrespecting his fighter, how about he come up a solid game plan for AA vs Ward. Enough with this overly defensive ****, and come up with a compromise in your style. I've seen AA box well before without keeping his hands that high. He has the ability, they just have to concentrate on more offense and stamina. He needs to put more pressure on his taller opponents and blast them with body punches. He also needs to work the jab non stop to have a chance of getting close on taller fighters.

You cannot counter a guy who is taller than you when you are being knocked off balance.

    Well. You can't counter properly.

I saw a reference to Tyson in here somewhere.. Don't forget Tyson in his prime slipped more than he blocked. This allowed him to maintain his position to be in a good place to punch from. Once he stopped slipping punches he was a punching bag too.

I'm just pointing out that AA's team are using excuses that are flat out BS instead of acknowledging that his opponents were just better than him to begin with. His excuses are just something to pacify his fans and keep them there after 2 such bummy performances.

After Dirrell: I started too slow. Well he always starts slow around 3 or 4 rounds. Still he tried to pick it up and didn't do anything but be embarrased up until the 10th round. It was obvious he could not do anything, yet Still he blamed it on starting slow rather than dirrells obvious speed, skill and reflex advantages.

Now after froch: He can't use that excuse anymore. He basically was defeated for not having any head movement or strategy to begin with. His team are poor strategist. So now he's going back down to MW to kill himself making weight.

IMO he doesn't know what the problem is and his poor strategist team doesn't either. When I can sit here behind my TV screen and easily see that he doesn't have any head movement (which is why fighters get defeated by Jabs).

If he is such a fan of tyson then he should watch old tyson footage to see what head movement can do for him. I promise it could do alot with his tools. He has power in both hands but doesn't know how to use them. He relied on his power for so long without working on the things that get that power to the target.

Can't wait for him to be dominated by ward and I'm glad his true bitter colors have shined through.

The guy seems like a terrible trainer to me though I can't say I'm overly familiar with all his work. Huck and Abraham are both great punchers but their skill level is terrible...I don't know what he teaches them exactly other then to cover up and occasionally unleash sloppy haymakers. Imagine if Abraham actually incorporated head movement and footwork like Tyson (his favorite fighter)?

His performance had nothing to do with the weight as far as im concerned, it was all about his inability to close the gap, to get into punching position.

AA cant seem to compete from long range and needs! to get closer to you (mid range)to unload, which is a direct result of the way he fights, with his hands high, now he could possibly get away with this if you knew how to slip inside and a jab and counter, or if he knew how to set up a counter right hand by making moving his head, making you over-commit, then countering over the top of Froch's jab, but he doesn't move his head, and he has no jab to close the killzone to get off, so resorts to jumping in with amateurish punches.

wtf is up with everyone bitching about weight classes and trying to find the perfect little one pound spot where they think they have an advantage. I mean there are too many weight classes as there is and people cant even find one they are happy to fight in anymore

Sure. This is about the dismissal:
    http://www.bild.de/BILD/sport/mehr-...am/wegner-droht-abraham-mit-dem-rauswurf.html

This is the video with Wegners words after the fight. http://www.bild.de/BILD/video/clip/sport/boxen/2010/11/29/froch-abraham-kampf.html
At around 2:19 Wegner says that he could give reasons for calling him a coward but now he has to be by Abrahams side. At 2:50 he becomes angry for asking about the middleweight debate. Wegner says that Arthur has no chance of going back and that he would suffer from the weight draining. He also says that Arthur has a murderous punch and punches precisely but didn´t show anything in the fight. He says that his hands are burning because of the punch training they did.
Here is the full fight with german commentary. http://www.mdr.de/boxen-im-ersten/7931928.html

At 22:55: What are you afraid of? this is really cowardly. it is cowardly what you are showing. you have so much punching power, so much quality. throw the punch and fly behind it. be the first one to throw. we worked so many hours on that. it is so bad I don´t know what to do anymore. you lost all of the rounds, haven´t one even one.
At 30:50 Wegner says: listen up. you only have one chance. if not to the body go to the head. he does exactly what you have to do. we´ve done it so many times. you only have one chance, it´s all or nothing. it´s a head thing.
At about 34:53: only three rounds to go.arthur do you have an idea how many millions are watching? they can all see by themselves that you´re not risking anything. just throw your right hand. you have that fire in your hands. everybody is watching because of you. c´mon!
39:20 AA:I dont know why its not working. Wegner: c´mon. It inside your head. you don´t wanna risk anything. you wanna go safety first.

Here is another video with interviews after the fight with AA, UW and old Sauerland: http://www.mdr.de/boxen-im-ersten/7931828.html
At around 3:35 UW is interviewed:
3:35: There are many question marks in the face of Ulli Wegner. where was the AA who fought miranda, taylor and gevor?
UW: it is hard to answer a question like that after a loss, after such a shameful loss. I have to come to terms with myself first. He has to ask himself how he could put up such a performance. He has the tools! I have warned him long ago. He was very disciplined during training camp, and it is also well known that he likes to carry some power reserves to the later rounds. But today i have to say: in front of so many fans, so many from armenia, i have to show honor, he actually needed to sell himself at a high price. If it´s really not there- we can accept it. But i don´t want to analyze anything today. I need to come to terms with myself. I can explain (the loss) to myself but i can´t explain it to our fans. He was a fast rising star, I said it again and again. I´m not goging to analyze it, sorry. I´m going to be fair, gonna be by his side now, after a loss. But he really needs to think about it, really quickly

This was a short attempt of simultaneous translation. Be merciful with me because of the mistakes. I hope you can get the sense of my words nervertheless ;)

In Bild it was said that AA came up too fast and became decadent bc of the amount of money earned so fast (10M$), he was buying a plane, he owns 5 mobile phones that ring the whole day etc..
he is not focused enough any more, not willing to work on his leaks to improve, not hungry.
Graziano Rocchigianni and his trainer backed that statement up and the way Wegner talked to him between rounds hinted that he was not satisfied with AAs attitude, most likely even before the fight, he kinda saw this thing coming.

I think the quality of his recent performances has more to do with lack of concentration, dedication and discipline than with lack of talent.

When he came to Germany only with a plastic-bag he was hungry, aggressive and he wanted to prove himself to the world but when he suddenly earned a shitload of money and experienced the sweet life he lost his dedication and therefore couldnt live up to his talent.

Has nothing to do with weight-classes or anything, that guy is just spoiled and lost his drive.

Just let your hands go arthur, you have the power to knock Ward out cold and Ward has no power so need to be so cautious. Walk through the hype job and take him out.
