    Raul Marquez.

The temptation is just to throw this out. But then again, Marquez has been in the ring with both men and this means he has an opinion. Has he got some reason for running down Shane?

What do you make of Abraham's handspeed. He does punch quickly when he throws combinations.

abraham is an explosive puncher, and although his handspeed is rather quick, its not in mosleys league..

and when watching AA fight, its easy to fall into the trap, of him being lazy. this is of course just a guess, but watching him fight and actually fighting him, there could seem to be a gap, with one“s estimated guess, as to how fast his punches are thrown, while with mosley you know whats coming, so the speed wont surprise you that much.

remember the fact that the version of Mosley that fought Marquez was awful, he was in a phase of post erasure of invencibility aura when he lost to Forrest, and he was just limited to one punch at a time, now, if you compare the speed of the Abraham who fought Miranda the second time (his best performance in my point of view) to the Mosley who fought Margarito, i think there's no comparison.

If Abraham was just fast then it wouldn't be as problematic for his opponents. It's the combination of decent speed paired with excellent accuracy and timing. Abrahams timing and his eye to spot an opening is superior.

I don't even think Abraham is so ultra fast. He just sees whats going to happen and anticipates his opponent's movements very very well. A rare gift.

I honestly understand why Pavlik didnt want to get in the ring with AA.

Dont weannt to start a discussion, but I think most people can see who chickened out after AA has just entered the most loaded tournament in boxing history. Pavlik (or his peoiple) just didnt really fancy standing in front of AA... and I think that is fully understandable.

There are quite a few fighters who look slower than they are. The Klitschkos had numerous opponents who said this about them after a fight.

AA uses what he has very intelligently. When he explodes, it does damage, I have rarely seen him waste punches. While he can be acused of being lazy, it works for him and he retains his speed in the later rounds.

Maybe, maybe not. There is a video on youtube where Pavlik says Abraham is afraid of him. It's probably about money and location for the fight. I'm sure Pavlik qwanted to fight in the USA, and AA wanted to fight in Germany. I would never fight AA in Germany. There is no way to outpoint AA in Germany. See Abraham-Miranda for evidence.

What I didn't see anyone pick up on is AA's improved stamina. He used to struggle in the championship rounds, walk away from his opponents after a referre would break a clinch. He had the most annoying habit of turning has back to the opponent in the process. Doesn't do that anymore. Takes 2-3 rounds off, figures out his opponents and goes to work.

He does look much shorter thant the other tourney fighters though, hope it doesn't disadvantage him. Otherwise Kessler-Abraham might look like Wlad-Chagaev...

He does. He could be even quicker if he threw more straight punches in his fights, he mostly uses hooks. He's not exceptionally fast, but has decent speed imo.

He's definitely fast. Whoever thinks his punches are slow has no clue. Sometimes, when he throws one of his Hayemakers they may not be very fast. But his shorter punches and his combinations are fast.

Hes pretty quick for his size/frame.

He throws nice combination's and even tho you see him miss sometimes, but he has really good accuracy as well..

Taylor is in for a tough fight.

Abraham is just as tough if not tougher than Froch and Pavlik.

Marquez doesn't exactly have the same reflexes now as he did 6 years ago when he fought Mosley either. That would definitely contribute to him finding it harder to avoid punches and deal with speed. Let's also remember that his fight with Mosley was stopped very short due to a headbutt.

BTW... I am not saying that Abraham isn't faster than he looks on tape. That is definitely possible.
