Abraham on Pavlik's loss

Ikeke. Jermaine was not that good. He was overrated.

 

Never ever gained Hopkins 15 pounds over night...this guy is 43 years of age, near 44 - not 26!

 

We all know J.T never beat Hop. I pick Ikeke because of his style. Now this is after the fact, but I just think about styles. J.T would probably outpoint Eastman. J.T was not good. He was ok. He couldn't fight inside, he couldn't really bodu punch, and he got tired in fights. He always used too much energy to even do the basic things in the ring. J.T on Pav's resume will in no such way help him against Abraham even if some think Pav having J.T on his resume is someone better than who AA fought. AA has the style to beat PAv. He is faster, and hits harder.

 

You mean Ikeke would do better against Hopkins?

 

No way one can claim Taylor is no good and just "ok".
An "ok" fighter would never be able to stand up to Hopkins and produce two close fights with the LEGEND.

 

You lost me...I mean We are talking about Ikeke and Taylor, not who would do better against Hop. Style make fights.

 

Anyone can claim anything they want...no disrespect. I said Taylor was "not" good, not "no" good . I never thought J.T beat Hop, and I had Hop winning both fights clearly in my eyes. His comp stayed too close to him. He is a nice guy, but sorry, he just wasn't that good, and his title reign is proof.

 

Yes, of course styles make fights, I agree completely.
But one can't claim that a C-level fighter (i.e. Taylor) can match an A-level fighter (i.e. Hopkins) and give him problems just because of styles.
I'm saying that Taylor had to be a good fighter regardless of styles, in order to give Bernard problems. I asked "would Ikeke do better against Hopkins", meaning "would a fighter like Ikeke perform better against an All Time Great" than Taylor. Judging from Ikeke and his accomplishments, I'd say the answer is definitely no and there is no shame in admitting that.
Btw, that's the main reason Pavlik got so embarassed against Bernard (their styles), yet so many people diss him as a no-good fake champion, when in fact they should have in mind that he lost to Hopkins -who is a true ATG and owns Kelly stylewise and skillwise- and not to some bum.

Yeah, it's acceptable to think Bernard won both fights, they were very close and Hop definitely has a case. But it's a fact Jermain gave him problems and made for a couple of close fights, which is proof he is quite good (not as good as HBO etc. tried to make him look obviously). If he wasn't good, he wouldn't be able to put up with Bernard, even if he had the perfect style for him.
As far as his title reign is concerned, at least he had one (title reign), Ikeke didn't even have a title reign (speaking of major titles).

Abraham just talking **** to make the fight happen....its business.
Now lets hope that it actually happens. I hope Abraham gets past Marquez and then comes to the US. Pavlik- Abraham will be an entertaining fight thats for sure.

After Abraham defeats Pavlik I hope that he fights either Hopkins or the winner of Taylor-Lacy.....all very exciting fights.

I think that Abraham needs to move up in weight a bit, he looks really ripped a middleweight and it seems that he drains his body alot to make 160....he looks like he can be a solid 168 lb fighter. My picks:

I,too,think that AA drains his body a lot to make 160.There is even rumour that his fight with Marquez has been postponed because he couldnt make the weight in time.
