I'm not interested in opinions about Boxrec ratings in general, as they tend to be bad, but how about this particular rating right now:

    #1 Abraham
    #2 Bute
    #3 Froch
    #4 Ward
    #5 Dirrel
    #6 Stieglitz
    #7 Bike
    #8 Kessler
    #9 Green
    #10 Brinkley

One sidenote: I really like this division. How many divisions can have their entire top6 filled with legit, top contenders/belt holders/champions?

not a froch fan and i think he's a ko waiting to happen in his next two fights but its hard not to have him at #1 right now w/ his body of work when you compare it to the other guys in that list.

talent wise i would have bute and ward at the top but that's only part of it. froch has a better resume than the rest.

Not a good list even if I also have Abraham at #1 but based on mythical H2H matchup alone.

Boxrec goes strictly by calculation of results, so it's always "fair".

Awful - as most of their rankings are.

I have Ward at #1. You could argue for Froch or Bute but no decent list could have Abraham top.

fair is not the right word - it always sticks to the system and has no human biase (only the biase in the system) but it is nothing like fair. it is one of the worst rankings normally as even a (slightly) pro-American, Golden Boy, publication like the Ring has a better ranking in it.

    :think

The fact is: The Ring has Eduard Gutknecht in its 168lbs top ten.

What is wrong with it? I think it usually gives a better indication of a boxers quality (there is always the odd anomoly where a fighter is overrated/underrated) but it is usually far better than the other rankings.

Bums like Salita would never become a mandatory under the boxrec ranking system.

Based on accomplishments you kinda have to put Froch at the top since he has victories over Pascal, Taylor, and Dirrell...but it's almost like you are waiting for the other shoe to drop with him.

I think the top 3 fighters in the division should be Ward, Bute, and Froch and you can put them in any order. Abraham has beaten a declining Taylor and Miranda at supermiddle, thats good enough for fourth spot but not ahead of the other three. But looking at the rankings just shows how deep and strong this division is at the moment.
