A.A. reminds me of Gene Fullmer except Fullmer had an insane workrate toughness and stamina....I think A.A. should study the style of hall of famer Gene Fullmer thats how he needs to fight.

    PS..... Fullmer was a middleweight.

This isn't the first time I've heard of the comparison between the two but I can't quite see it.

Defense is not part of your durability. You're either durable when you get hit or you're not.

probably the way he moves with his guard up in straight lines with not a hint of fancy footwork or movement plodders with great strength

I should have posted this on the classic section as the experts around here dont know who Gene Fullmer is but at least its good to know someone does.

I think you already have and I dont think to many agreed...personally I dont really see it either.

Fullmer employed more of a crossed armed defence compared to Abe's more conventional peek-a-boo guard. Though I actually thought he was more versatile then often given credit, he did sometimes use a high handed guard when it suited the situation better.

He also showed he could use the ring and move against Lausse, Fernandez and others when he had to change up tactics.

Both of them wing their punches a fair bit...but Gene was more likely to just to let fly, whilst Abe has always been a patient counterpuncher for the most part, painfully patient sometimes.
