I think he's almost done. Martinez will be to slick and technically sound if they ever meet. I'm really curious if he can make the weight...

To be honest: His style doesn't allow him to hang out with taller guys that are better boxers than he is (which is not that difficult). He can win against fighters that are techically-wise better than he is if they don't have a reach advantage over him. IF he connects flush, he can win regardless who is his opponent, but that is not going to happen against the top dogs.

I'm not even sure if he can win against Sturm any longer...

If he somehow manages to get back in top shape and is able to fully concentrate on boxing though, he will be still a threat for all MW fighters.

Martinez isn't a "boxer" just unorthodox, he gets tagged far to cleanly by jabs and straights to hang around with a guy who has a jaw (AA wasn't KO'd at 168 or 160) and has legit 1 punch KO power.

At least he lost against taller guys. What about Pavlik who lost against a smaller one ?

I think Pavlik is just as shot as AA, fanboy, so please, don't run your mouth too much.

Skill-wise he's much better than AA though.

Pavlik is way more shot than AA. AA just fought some really good fighters who didn't match up well with him stylistically.

He is a very good counter puncher though, he has some of the qualities of a good boxer, and an excellent jab aswell. He trumps Abraham in the speed category aswell. I liked the way he showed the ability to adapt in the later rounds against Pavlik. His skill level is much higher than Arthur's, as a previous poster has said. Hes not a textbook boxer in the classical sense though no, I agree.

Abraham, while being a better fighter at 160 still isnt very active and starts slow. Hes also slightly one dimensional, a fast skilled fighter will always give him trouble. And for all this talk about his one punch ko power, I really dont rate it much higher than Pavliks power at 160.

hehe - does it start all over again? :hey:yep

Pavlik vs. AA would be the only of AA's possible future fights I'm interested in. In his current condition, AA wouldn't have a chance. 2 years ago Abraham would've won though. :smoke

Disagree. It's not only the skill and the reach, it's also his attitude and will which has changed. He has lost his hunger. I'm not saying he would've won the Super Six otherwise, but especially against Froch and also partly against Ward, fights in which he disappointed big time, he seemed to be almost scared to let his hands go. The Abraham who fought in AA vs. Miranda I was much more of a ring warrior. He was much more dedicated to boxing to that time.

Thats good. There are too many BS title holders down there. Abraham is a gatekeeper at Super Middleweight, A top contender or title holder at Middleweight.

There both shot. But Abraham looked terrible against Ward. And Kelly barley beat a club fighter. ( Alfonso Lopez III ).

    I think there pretty close.

When Arthur moved up to SMW he said he was happy since his biggest problem at MW was staying under 160. Now that he's been at 168 for almost 2 years, it is going to be doubly tough for him. Plus, 3 convincing defeats in the Super Six would have left him shattered.
Arthur is a big puncher and a really tough guy. But it has been going all downhill for him and I'm afraid it is gonna stay that way.

Yea. When you loose your hunger, you loose your will to fight. Just like Tyson did when he got KOed by that Irish guy.

I agree his movement and jab are very well, but he holds his hand way too low to fight AA.

As for stamina, you are right AA starts slow, but Martinez always fades mid rounds.

I believe AA has the punch to severely hurt Martinez and Sergio doesn't have the physical attritubtes to negate AA like the 168 fighters did.

Good for him. Probably the best choice for furthering his career, and I'd enjoy watching him mix it up with Sergio Martinez.
