The fight will now be called MegaThree.

At least showtime learned it's lesson for the 118 tournament. Single elimination. Prevents fighters from pulling out due to injury after a loss(Taylor), immediately eliminates guys who should never have been there(Green), and eliminates the possibility of absurd rematches(could you imagine a Froch-AA rematch).

As an AA fan, I'd be disappointed if he quit this way. However, he was pretty clearly out of his depth in the Dirrell fight. Not just because of Dirrell's skills, but Dirrell was stronger than him(not the harder puncher but he could push AA off of him), much taller, had the longer reach and AA didn't have the skills to compensate. Doesn't change that I'd be disappointed if he quit the S6...this tournament has been a colossal fail...hopefully the 118 tournament is much better.

There could still be a Froch-Abraham rematch in the Super Six.

Abraham quitting isn't confirmed, is it?

It would be better for the tournament though, who wants to see another 12 rounds of that ****?

They should definitely have Ward-Froch final with the winner to face Johnson.

Over at the scene...They had it mapped out with the different scenarios....A froch decsion win(which happened) means he will face Johnson in the semi-final under the current format...

That's why it should be shortened. One loss and a fighter should automatically be eliminated. Wouldn't that be a better format?

I am not sure there should be a rematch, though. I mean, Abraham had 12 rounds to show something, but he couldn't. It's clear to me who is the better fighter between those too. I just feel it's just one of those cases where a rematch isn't needed, at least not immediately.

You can't go in fights thinking your going to Ko everyone this is what Abraham did.

a true blueprint for everyone to follow he'll probably never win a fight again.

It doesn't matter whether there should be one. They're in a ****ing tournament, not just randomly fighting for no reason.

The tournament guidelines should be adhered to, now more than ever. Just doing away with them only serves to further dissolve the meaning of the whole thing.

Even if the outcome of a rematch as another one-sided decision for Froch seems incredibly obvious, it's necessary to go through with it for posterity if it turns out that the seeding guidelines result in an immediate rematch in the semi-finals. Everybody (including Abraham) needs to respect that or it further diminishes the already depreciated value of the whole Super Six.

Good points, and I never meant they shouldn't fight according to the tourney rules. I meant that for ME (and most other fans I reckon) a rematch (and especially an immediate one) isn't needed after what we saw tonight. I'd prefer to see Froch fight other guys.
