Maybe I missed it, but there's a clip of his face (with a clear delayed reaction for whatever reason), I didn't see that in the clip you posted, it cuts away in that YT clip...

Anyway, I have absolutely no idea if he faked it or not and neither does anyone else.

Personally I really get the feeling he's a fighter who will use anything, but think he was clearly winning the fight anyway, though I did feel he was starting to get into a bit of bother - though there was only a round or so to go.

Shame how it ended really, would like to see them fight again sometime.

 

you cant blame AA, heat of the moment in real time, he certainly deserved to be DQ'd, and Dirrell was clearly not faking, he took a punch that he and his neck muscles were not expecting

 

I am calm, people are just absurd. No matter how clear something is some people will claim the exact opposite. The guy was trembling on the ground for a few minutes, was crying because he believed he'd been legitimately KO'd and didn't even realize he'd won despite being told, he couldn't understand he was so dazed. But apparently he cooked this great sequence of acting up in the 1 second it took from when the punch landed until the shock resonated in his brain stem and rendered him knocked out.

The guy was on the floor so he didn't fall over and maybe it didn't look dramatic enough for some people. :huh

 

Yeah fair enough mate. I doubt I will be calling for his life though as some on here were ;-)

Yea, I can go with the DQ, but Christ, I've seen a thousand fights where boxers have been caught where they are on a knee or going down...

We'd have DQ's every other week if it was played totally by the book.

 

Also bear in mind that boxers slip etc on purpose to break up the rhythm etc... there are dirty tricks all over the shop...

Still, he should have been DQed... so..

It was a serious issue and people treated it like a joke and with a lack of respect.

 

C'mon it's not beyond the realms of fantasy for a boxer to think before hand, you go down on one knee, your likely to get hit if someones overly aggressive in style, go down like you've been pole axed if they touch you and you've won the fight.

I'm not saying that's the case here, but I bet plenty of the have thought about it.

 

Not to mention the other factor here which is that Dirrell was comfortably winning the fight on all scorecards. Sure things were getting a bit rougher, you expect AA to come on late especially when he's a mile behind. He should have had a blatant knockdown too which the ref bizarrely didn't call.

However, nothing happened that would suggest Dirrell was on the verge of breaking point. He got hit a few times throughout the fight and took most of them well and fired back, so it couldn't be claimed AA was suddenly landing and Dirrell was scared. He had a few tricky moments and came through.

Then he slips over on the ropes and gets hit and suddenly decides he was going to put on an Oscar winning act when he was 4 minutes from a clear victory having never really been in trouble? That's farfetched to me. To say the least.

Anyway, the main concern is Dirrell gets better, and not just better but hopefully well enough to box again and not having lost anything because that was brutal. The tradgedy is he put on a very good performance tonight and was so close to getting a deserved and impressive win.

 

this is not a dig, i watched the fight live and have only seen it one but do you think he purposely slipped to break up AA latter round dominace?
