you mean who else at SMW would agree to fight a blown up middleweight that they already lost to at a catchweight closer to 168 than 160?
Here's my 2 cents... Obviously AA is not scared to fight anyone, right? RIGHT. If he has to come to USA to get exposure before fighting Pavlik, who but Miranda can give him the type of PAYDAY he's accustomed to getting?? Fighting just about anybody else, on US soil, is not going to bring him much money. Unless the paycut is worth playing it "safer" until the fight with Pavlik materializes.
Did you even see the fight? I mean really see the fight, not some bull**** low res video on youtube? I doubt it since it is hard to get. But if you like a high quality DVD pm me your address. I really cant see how anyone gives this fight to AA. Abraham has complained of making weight and has said he intends to move up to 168lbs someday. Calling 6 more pounds on him 'blownup' is just ridiculous! If anything, making Miranda come down to this weight will be an advantage to Abraham.
listen, i am just playing devil's advocate. You are saying that Miranda is some sort of super courageous guy for fighting Abraham, when in fact it gives him a chance to fix a blunder on his resume, against a guy who is 1) not that good, 2) smaller than him, 3) a current title holder, 4) he already knows he can beat. Miranda would be a fool NOT to take this fight! Abraham is actually the one who is taking the risk here, not Miranda. you said, and I quote, "anyone who faces a champ would want the belt". That, my friend, is bull****. didn't Taylor just fight Pavlik for no belt? There are tons of examples, that is just one
Taylor too did not care about the belt. It was his last fight at middleweight. He had a rematch clause that put the fight at 166lbs so he could try to revenge a loss, he did not need the belt since he was retiring MW. Yes, there are other examples. They all had their reasons. But right now, I can think of a better fight for Abraham or Miranda at a catchweight. The both just want to kick each other's ass and give us fans one hell of a fight.
Good fight for AA, given the controversy in their first fight. AA had 4 keep-busy fights since their first encounter, time to take that risky rematch now in the U.S. and then on to bigger and better things (obviously Pavlik). Miranda seems to be quite popular among U.S. boxfans, a win against him on U.S. soil and TV will establish AA in the U.S. And I think that AA has the psychological edge in this fight. Miranda could hurt him but not finish him when he had 7 rds to do so, Abraham was clearly the better man before he had his jaw broken and he was still somewhat competitive after he was so badly hurt. I don't think AA will get that hurt again in the rematch. That's why I expect AA to win by UD, but I really hope he will knock Miranda out and shut his big mouth up.
This fight is a waste of time. Not that Miranda isn't a credible opponent, but there are bigger fish to fry out there such as Pavlik...the man who vaporized Edison! Its time that Abraham gets a big name opponent who he hasn't already beaten. He is in danger of becoming the next Calzaghe if he continues to fight the Ayala's. and Elcock's of the world.
This is good news. A rematch had to be made after the controversy of their first fight and it can't help but to be a brutal grudge match as well. Close fight to call but I lean towards Abraham. The one thing that worries me is the possiblity that Abraham loses. The one fight I'd like to see at middleweight is Pavlik-Abraham. That could be a big time middleweight showdown if Abraham beats Miranda on HBO. If he loses we'll probably get to see Pavlik-Griffin, Duddy, Rubio, and fights like that since the division is pretty thin right now.
definately Miranda vs Abraham is a worthy rematch i don't see how anyone can say otherwise. But just don't disappear if Abraham wins it!!
Fair enough... By the way... check out what Boxrec has for Abraham: http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=208432&cat=boxer
