Arthur apparently was afraid of Pavlik, yet he's able to take on Kessler,Froch,Ward,Taylor and Dirrell.

I just don't see your use of simple logic, Arthur clearly wanted Pavlik.

He wasn't "surviving"; he was pushing the fight and pressuring his man, and AA couldn't find the punching room to nail him. He had him hurt on several occasions but couldn't end it.

Again, press releases don't mean ****. Please give the details of any offer Saurland made to Pavlik to make the fight. Please provide links because no one has ever seen the info before. There was a front page article where a boxer was quoted as saying "Saurland likes to negotiate with himself in the press". I think that says it all. AA offered to fight Sturm for free. Sturm immediately accepted. Still waiting for that one.

Who cares about Lajuan Simon. It's a nothing fight. There is no motivation to be at peak form against that guy, especially for somebody like Abraham with his style that can be very lazy. Fighting the best brings out the best in the best fighters.

Besides Abraham ain't fighting at 160 again, it will never happen. He's looked stronger at 168, his fights there are more relevant to any discussion.

Well, any fight can reveal relevant traits. In that fight, AA responded to pressure from a sub-C-level opponent by going into his shell and not throwing much. It's not unreasonable to assume he'll do something similar against Pavlik.

I still need to see more of him at 168 to form an opinion. He pretty much did what he did against Marquez with Taylor. No punch. No respect. What happens when he faces a puncher? Does he revert to laying on the ropes and waving the opponent in? I guess when you have the title and the home court advantage you can do that.

Also, the poll gave the 160 option which is what I voted because that is the only place we have enough to go on. Picture gets murkier from there because Pavlik hasn't moved up in weight in a 'proper' manner and AA has one fight.

Uhm, doesn't Abraham 'go into his shell' against virtually everybody? That's what he does man...

He's not trying to be a volume fighter.

    And you're implying what?

Arthur clearly won that fight, comfortably ahead on points. He always uses his shell defense, he did so against Miranda the second time around and then cleaned his clock brutally.

AA wasn't simply responding to pressure, he was tactfully saving his energy, an energy level that was diminished at that moment in time @ 160lbs.

Arthur openly said long before his fight with LaJuan that he had major trouble making 160lbs, and that it was draining his energy.

Abraham, Pavlik is too 1 dimensional for the guy.

Abraham late rounds stoppage, probably due to accumalation.

Pavlik looked very sluggish both times I saw him at 168. Abraham looked good at 168 though. The problem with Pavlik is that, when he pressures his opponents, he gives up his height and get clocked. How many times did he get hit against Espino? Pavlik can't be sloppy like that against AA, since you can't take many flush shots from Abraham. Right now, I'd probably favor AA over Pav at 168.

How many clean shots did he have to get on Kelly to put him down for 2 seconds?

But Kelly has a solid chin, Froch too... both men tasted the canvas against Taylor, which implies that Taylor is more than an -average- puncher.
