I think thats a very fair assessment.I can't see Ward stopping AA,but as i've said before,AA seems to lose heart when he's backed up and unable to find an answer,so i can see him quitting. Lets hope AA can land a bomb or two early on and at least make the fight interesting.
He basically quit against Froch. Because of that, and realizing that this probably is a last chance of sorts, I expect him to really be up for this one. And he seems to be at least based on the interviews he's given. But Ward is just in a different league. I think we'll see a hungry AA for a while, but he'll come to realize before long that it's not there for him. I wouldn't be surprised to see Ward actually ending this inside the distance.
Jermaine Taylor has no lateral movement. He stands right in front of his opponent. Ward is moving side to side constantly.
Abraham has been thoroughly exposed as a one dimensional average fighter since entering the tournament. Before the Super 6 he was undefeated fighting only in Germany (except the 2nd Miranda fight in the US and a fight in Switzerland). Once he stepped up in class, he fought pretty even against a completely shot Jermaine Taylor before landing a hell mary in the 12th round. Then he was man handled by Andre Dirrell to the point of frustration and disqualification. Then he was utterly dominated and outboxed by Carl Froch for 12 rounds to the point where his own trainer called him a coward. So how is he going to beat the best SUper middleweight in the game right now?
How many times has Ward fought outside the US? If there is A K.O tonight,it will be Ward as i don't think Ward has the power to stop AA. That being said,i expect Ward to win by UD.
This fight will likely go one of two ways. An ugly win reminiscent of Hopkins-Wright for Andre, or a dominant and clear victory with Andre winning every round. it depends if Andre makes it easier or harder on himself. The wild card scenario is a late KO stoppage for Abraham, which he is always capable of because he carries his power late.
Im rooting for AA... but I just dont see him winning.. I hope im wrong, it would be nice if arthur landed something big!
one never can tell until the bell rings how a fighter will respond. AA needs to to do some digging, much like the first miranda fight, to come out on top. it could very well be a good scrap that ends on a cut caused by a headbutt, one of wards specialties...
I have a very strong feeling that AA will tage Ward. I'm not a fan of either fighter, to be honest. But I feel that with so many people and critics betting against AA, he'll pull out a stoppage win.
ummm, i think the Super 6 has exposed AA to be NOT AS GOOD as he was hyped to be, in europe. His only win was against a diminished ex-champion, who was considered as the low-man of the totempole for the tournament. AND he caught him in the last seconds of the 12TH round. Otherwise, it may have been a close decision. I think it'd be in his best interest to lose some of that excess muscle mass and go back down to Middleweight. He just has too much stamina problems. And just as Froch's girlfriend said about AA as he made it into the ring, "He's TINY!" Subjectively, he would be considered A/A- class fighter in a lackluster division. In this division, i would consider him a A-/B+ fighter at best. I would suggest picking up a fight w/ Pavlik (good money & a guy his size) as he's making his way down to Middleweight. Then an epic fight with Sergio Martinez.
I love JT...obviously, but make no mistake, by the time he got to Germany he was damaged goods and a shell of his former self. There are very few similarities between Ward and Taylor outside of them being Black and American. Ward fights well on the inside, is a rough fighter, has shown good stamina, is fundamentally sound, has a lot of confidence, is mentally strong and can move well when necessary. JT was non of those things by the AA fight. He was hesitant, chin cracked, stamina questions, lost his identity and had no idea if he wanted to be a "puncher" or a "boxer", and his confidence was gone.
Pavlik is much bigger than AA and busier...I like Kelly over him...AA is just to punch shy..to be a elite fighter this tournament has just shown that he is a B level fighter...
What I'm predicting will happens is that this will be similar to the Green fight but perhaps wors. The first round or two Ward will feel Abraham out. Then he's going to dominate him on the inside against the ropes since Abraham cannot fight this way. In addition this neutralizes Abraham's one and only weapon - his power - since he needs space to get leverage on his punches and he'll make Abraham very uncomfortable since he only likes to fight in spurts. I think he'll probably be done mentally by the 2nd half of the fight. I actually don't see Ward as being effective on the outside as Froch who I seems to have a longer reach and better power, both of which helped keep Abraham at bay. Though Ward is quicker on his feet then Froch.
And better than Froch on the inside headbutts and all,it doesent help that AA isnt very good on the inside thats a bad recipe for a small fighter thats not really a good boxer on the outside,AA is a enigma if i ever saw 1,but against this kind of comp not in a good way...:rofl
