Abraham's inactivity

Miranda fell into the trap. The way to beat AA is make him box. He has to score too.. So get a jab in and get out and try to time his wide hooks and catch his ass. Get close and rough him up and bang those ribs. You have to get a little rough with a guy that dont want to fight.

 

Most punches including body punches aren't meant to have an immediate effect.

I think that if the fight wouldve went to the latter rounds that those body punches wouldve been taking effect on Abraham.

At the same time you have to expect something back from your opponent, it isn't a one sided thing, its two people fighting --

 

I don't think pavliks tall frame will suite him going to AA's body. AA is a very good counterpuncher and pavlik going downstairs will just leave him that little bit more open to get countered with the overhand right or left hook, and AA's power is no joke. I think pavlik should be smart, use his jab to good effect and keep a good distance. He'll build up a descent lead and then when AA realises he need the KO and opens up Kelly can hope to catch him after he gets a little sloppy or continue to keep AA at a distance and take out the decision.

Don't think that kelly should really bang with the german because one puch is all it will take.

 

Absolutely agree.. Of course when Miranda's workrate lowered in the third, Abraham came out and landed some big shots only to TKO him in the next round.. Definitely more of a gameplan that I saw.. "the rope-a-dope"..

I think Abraham would go in with a different gameplan against Pavlik.. Maybe a little higher workrate or some more footwork? Pavlik is taller than Abraham, so it will probably be hard to land some accurate shots to AA's body that could really hurt him.. I'm wondering how would Pavlik take Abraham's punches??

 

My guess is that Pavlik will take them pretty good early but as the fight goes on he'll start to feel them more and more and might get stunned/wobbled from them without any doubts BUT I'm also wondering how Abraham will take Pavlik's power. Abraham has excellent stamina and that's what Taylor lacked and ended KO'd, you run out of gas against Pavlik he'll smell it and finish you off. Abraham will most likely rely on counter punching here since it's easy to guess that Pavlik will just come forward looking to be active and land a lot, Abraham has KO power in BOTH hands so this is going to be a tough night for both fighters. Pavlik went the distance only once in his career and Abraham proved he can go the distance and still carry some serious power, he can take advantage of that and possibly finish Pavlik off late, which I'm predicting will happen or decision if Pavlik is able to stay in there late with Abraham playing safe. Don't forget that if Pavlik wants to get a KO he needs to land and land a lot, one hayemaker won't be enough to win him the fight. Abraham got caught with his mouth open leading down as Miranda's uppercut pushes his head forward, got his jaw broken and still didn't go down, hell he even continued till the 12th and won the fight, don't expect Pavlik to finish him off with 1 punch, he needs to land a lot and that's not easy to do against Abraham. Really interesting and exciting fight if you think about it, really hope they set it up, my money is on Abraham with confidence.

People need to remember Lockett, same height as Abraham but no where near the fighter, landed 32% of his punches vs Pavlik.

Where styles are concerned Pavlik is Abraham's worst nightmare come to life. Last night was a great win for AA, but it was Edison Miranda; a limited fringe contender with sloppy offense and worse defense. Abraham will have to change pretty much everything he does in the ring if he wants to see the end of the 8th round against Pavlik. Kelly will force him to fight every second of every round. Pavlik has a 4 and a half inch height advantage, and I would guess he has about a 3 inch arm length advantage. That will make effective counterpunching damn near impossible. Abrahm's best chance would be to jump on Kelly from the opening bell and try to win a war of attrition on the inside. In order to make that work he would have to be able to consistently slip the jack hammer that Pavlik calls a jab, and that ain't easy!

 

Those compubox numbers were preposterous. Lockett got credit for anything that came within 3 inches! Go watch the fight if you don't believe. The guys running compubox don't seem to understand that punches that bounce off a guys glove do not count!

 

AA vs Pavlik would be a good fight. Lets make it happen :yep
