Just seen on some BS forum that abraham broke 2 ribs on saturday against Marquez.

Anyone know if there is any truth to this? It was on the forums.

Marquez knew that AA was hurt, but (and this is a big but) he also knew how hard his punches are. It would have been suicide for him to try to focus on AA's body. AA is not only powerful he is also clever and was waiting for it. Marquez was definitely surprised how hard AA punches. Otherwise he would have fought his usual style and he would have thrown more punches. He was definitely impressed.

Yeah, there was one point in the fight, about the 3rd or 4th round, where Abraham looked very distressed from a body attack. The ref kind of intervened to give Arthur a breath, acting like he was hit with an illegal blow. Marquez may end up regretting to continue against a wounded opponent.

Do you really think a broken rib can stop Arthur when a broken jaw can't?

His ribs probably never healed since the Miranda fight

Maybe...I think his ribs were already injured before the Marquez fight.

Well, it didn't but Marquez didn't seem to try to get to the injured area much after Abraham was hurt there. I'm not saying Marquez would have won but he seemed to have a wounded guy in front of him and he failed to exploit that.

Well a broken jaw can't stop AA but it can make him run for 7 rounds, and if that fight had taken place outside of Germany no other judge would have said AA won for 7 rounds of running.

A broken rib is different from a broken jaw. A rib can interfere with breathing and if you can't breathe and get air you tire really quickly.

I give Abraham credit for not giving up with the jaw and the ribs (if the ribs were broken). A broken jaw is crazy. People called him a wuss for running and dodging the rest of the fight but I do not blame him for that.

True, but it wasn't Miranda in the 2nd fight who broke AA's rib(s). He was already injured before and I think it was the same against Marquez...but who knows, maybe Marquez did really hurt him.

I don't remember any of that, all I remember is that Marquez landed a lowblow(kidney shot) which bothered Abraham, even the replay showed it and Marquez got a warning for it.
