exposed Rios as a wreckleas brawler with no jab who only knows how to brawl. Rios is young so maybe he can correct his flaws. I know I'm late, but I just saw the fight, and I don't believe in controversy until I've seen it with my own two eyes. Whether you thought either guy won, Abril fought smart. Rios needs to jab his way in. His defense is decent, but he can be controlled. Abril had no business controlling the fight. Broner might've knocked Rios out, hell Gamboa too. But that's easily said. I'll say this though, had Rios been in with someone who could motivate him, he probably would've fought with more passion. I'll give him that. The greats might not always get up for fights, but they win those battles. I just don't want to see Rios turn into Margarito.
He exposed Rios for not being able to deal with someone who consistently forces him to "turn." Rios is one dimensional; I like him as a fighter..has the heart of a warrior..but very limited skill. I think he'll get battered up at 140..his style is perfect for smaller weight classes as he is huge..but moving up to 140, the fighters are a bit bigger and won't have to respect him as much. LOL-Rios is much better than Tony can dream to be...Rios isn't cheating, nor are his victories in shadows.
Your a little late, this was last weeks talk... Now we are gearing up for Mayweather Cotto/Alvarez Mosely/ dawson hopkins/
I didn't. I knew that he didn't use a consistent jab, but I didn't know that he couldn't adjust. Maybe its a one fight thing because of the weight. We'll see.
Rios finds himself in a horrible position; He looked slow and sluggish; I personally feel from trying to make weight.. but if he goes up in class.. he won't be able to bully people. Rio's only options are to either cut weight more effectively or learn his craft better; If he doesn't his Career is probably over; at least the chance to make big money is.
