On Twitter now. Derry says still fighting for WBA belt - great opportunity now?

Boxing scene reporting he could be fighting Ismael Barraso 17-0 with 16 knockouts

    Doesn't bode well for Derry.

No Derry rarely does well against big punchers but I had a look at him crude but strong Derry would have to box outta his skin to win I think one shot from Barroso could end it

I'd love to see Derry win a world title but I think he would've at least had a bit more of a chance against Abril.

It would be difficult for Derry as he trained for the complete opposite in Abril to have to fight Barroso on just over a weeks notice it's a big ask but with the crowd behind him you would never know

Potentially a worse situation than before, tbh.

Abril has a judge-unfriendly style and no power. A hometown gift decision for Derry was hardly beyond reckoning.

Fighting for 'a version' of the WBA title, expect some 'regular' or 'interim' ****

In my opinion a better fight for Derry, at least he is against someone who is untested, or less tested than Abril

They don't have a super but they have an interim champion, guessing abril becomes the super and this fight is for the 'regular' title?

Yep, sounds likely. Still a good opportunity for him, and i know it is very hypocritical as i don;t like regular belts, but i don;t mind it in certain situations where a contender is a bit limited but gets to fight for what they percieve to be a world title in their biggest contest. I just don;t like it when these supposed top fighters have it who would claim to be in the same league as their IBF, WBO counterparts and claim that their title is of the same value. Obviously the belt situation isn't great, but i;ve just about accpeted 4 champs per weight, with a lineal one in a division. Kind of hard to explain what i mean, but i hope i'm making at least some sense
