All right I will leave. You are right, you don't need anything but low body fat for the most part to have abs showing.
I don't understand the problem with training your core alot, it's not going to hold you back having a strong core. Doing 3000 sit-ups a day just get pointless but putting in several high quality core workouts per week is essential.
There's a difference between training your abs and training your core. Most boxers seem to think your entire core consists of your abs and that's it. Core workouts are a very good idea, if you actually know what you're doing. Some of the crap being spouted on this thread is kind of funny.
Well yes, I agree. There are boxers at my gym who see their physical conditioning as; jogging, crunches and bicep curls. There is no harm in wanting to have defined abs, but that isn't what you should directly train for. The whole core must be strong.
Why? He's talking about the role abs play in boxing, and how having a six pack, while cool, isn't the end all and be all if you care about performance. Seems relevant to me.
I'd argue that doing squats would help core stability and improve punch resistance more than crunches ever would, the abs don't offer alot of protection.
Lefty. good for the Abs response, surprisingly. Plus everything else, He haddened Boxed at that time. Got loads of stuff.[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBaA7tNSRNk[/ame]
