That's to often. You have to give them time to recover. I would reccomend doing them only every other day, unless your doing them weighted then even less.
If you're just doing something like 50 situps, it's ok. Go for 3 heavy workouts and 3 light workouts. Heavy would be weighted.
I do at least 100 on an incline five days a week. We also have a drill where you do 3 - 3minute sets with thirty second breaks. In the first set, 30 seconds of situps, 30 seconds of situps (forgot the name opposite elbot to knee), 30 seconds same thing other side, 30 seconds of tricycles, leg raises 30 seconds a few inches above the ground and 30 seconds of really high leg raises. Doing this twice a week will do wonders.
agreed. hypnotiq, you want to do an intense session like mon, wed and fri, then on tues, thurs and sat, just do endurance ****, like some crunches after your workout or something. and also, the best way to train your abs is to take shots, so incorporate some of those drills definitely.
My abs workout is like this 1. day - 400 2. day - 800 3. day - 400 4. day - 800 5. day - 400 6th and 7 day - both 800
If you are doing sit-ups to look nice you can do 100000000 a day and see no results if you have a layer of fat over them.
Doing more than 25 per set is definitely not efficient. The abs are just like any other muscle: you can't just spot-train the fat off by working longer sets. You don't ever do 800 reps on the bench do you? I usually do a 3 sets of 12 reverse crunches, 3 sets of 20 regular crunches, 2 sets of jacknife crunches ((?) the one on the stability ball where you put your legs up on the ball and your hands on the floor and bring in your knees), and then finish off with a minute of pushup-holds. I just do around 3 days of it. Bottom line is: the abs shouldnt be treated much differently from any other muscle group in a workout. It can however be exercised more frequently, some people believe, so doing it 5-6 days could be experimented with.
