At the end I thought Murray had done enough,I really did. On reflection though he fell short by giving away rounds that he could so easily have won. The first 3 he should have let something more go punch wise. Murray won it in a similar way to Lennox Lewis beat Holyfield in their first fight. He did enough but it is scored round by round and he didn't spread his good work over enough rounds. I still had him up but now I've calmed down a bit I can see how it got away from Murray.
yep some are giving serge too much credit for his flash punches which alot of landed on murrays gloves, Murrays defence should be credited along with the gameplan, but lots feel safe giving close rds to the champ
I thought Murray did enough to get something out of it, he landed most of the best work in the fight. Martinez really didn't do a lot of clean work.
Well in essense he did get something out of it his Stock has risen bigtime and he can be classed as world glass for sure
im getting sum rite **** in the rbr for saying the same thing. if that was neutral hw won clearly(especially if the 2nd knockdown counted
I had Martinez winning 116 - 111. I felt Murray could have done more in a number of rounds to leave the judges in no doubt that the quality was coming from him. I appreciate that he landed some good shots but there were times when I was urging him to push on more. In certain rounds, the flashes of action from Martinez maybe nicked it. I watched the fight with Russian commentary so have no idea what was being said on the UK or US channels.
I'd like to apologise, sorry if I pissed anyone off honestly. I was just fuming but I acted like a little girl, sorry honestly. Proper cringeworthy, sorry I even started this thread. I do think Murray won though to be honest, I just over-reacted. Soz guys :verysad
It wasn't and it didn't. He knew that and he didn't step it up. Murray can only blame himself for losing a winnable fight. It's not a robbery.
Watched the fight with Garrus and Hoshi over Skype and all of us agreed Murray was even or winning by a round at the first KD and he won the majority of rounds after that (even without the KD he should have been awarded). Anyone who judges this fight a win for Martinez is plain ******ed, he didn't land anything all night, tried old man Hopkins tricks God knows how many times and confused showmanship for boxing. Murray did the better work, had the better defence, the better offence, and pretty much made Martinez his ***** for the night (and I'm a Sergio fan). Anyone without an agenda for either fighter would have scored a comfortable decision for Murray, but then is is ESB.
Comfortable decision for Murray? :rofl I have no agenda either way, in fact I was hoping Murray would win especially towards the end because of Martinez acting like a **** most of the fight, but Martinez probably won the first 6 rounds and a couple towards the end. Murray done all the damage in his rounds, I'd say he won about 5 so he looked better, but he was very quiet especially in the first 5 rounds.
