Damn the poor kid got punished for rounds then his knee gave up under him, it's like everything conspired against him. But Yuri Foreman, just barely, stood up, and without any kind of footwork or power to have any chance to turn it around, started to fight back from pure heart until he could. I liked what I saw from him in the past couple of days (and wrongly picked him to outpoint Cotto), but now I simply like him, and ready to watch his next fight. Hopefully he'll get through the knee injury, it's usually a serious issue and it's been an issue for quite some time, what a horribly timing to show up. But there was no quitting in Yuri, so mad respect!

Cotto is back, and as I've said all along, Steward is the guy he should've hired from day one as I consider Cotto a better boxer (potential) than a boxer-puncher. I viewed this fight however a bridge too far in 2010: coming back from a lot of punishment, moving up in weight and hiring a new trainer to box with the boxer, but Miguel showed us he has plently left in him.

The biggest fight out there right now is Sergio Martinez, what a superb battle it would be! I can see experts and bookies clearly favoring the LMW/MW champ, but IMO Cotto is a very live underdog and will only become more complete under Steward, this was NOT an easy comeback fight, but he made it look easy. To be realistic however, I don't expect Bob Arum to ever let Cotto fight an elite fighter not having a contract under Top Rank, which is very unfortunate. In that case, maybe Margarito is coming, whould be an interesting rematch. But my vote goes for Martinez-Cotto and unification. Cotto is BACK!

    Martinez would thrash Cotto, IMO.

Cotto is not plodding one dimensional Pavlik, and poses a different array of match up problems for Martinez than the long range sloppy Williams or punk ass cry baby Cintron.

I think a Cotto/Martinez fight would be very interesting. I'd favor Martinez to win, but Cotto would certainly be a live underdog and it would not be shocking to me if Cotto pulled off the win.

Yuri's main purpose in boxing is much like Mickey Ward's; To train hard, show up to the fight, and take a major ass whopping. That is Yuri's future in boxing; Human punching bag.
Cotto; Well, that's another kettle of fish. Cotto is a real boxer who possesses real skills. Good to see Cotto coming back with this tune up type win against an obvious inferior journeyman.

    Agreed all around.

And I'd much rather see Cotto take a chance at Martinez over a fight with Berto. If Cotto beats Berto, it'll be swept under the wrong...as people will just say Berto was all hype. A win over the reigning middleweight champ would be a pretty significant scalp.

Thing is, Arum doesn't seem to want anything to do with Martinez. At the Foreman-Cotto media workout early last week when asked about the winner facing Sergio, Arum brushed it off saying Martinez had a "stinky style." Which I found to be hilarious considering Yuri Foreman's rep prior to Saturday night.

Makes sense....also, I noticed Pacquiao at ringside....just wondering if he is contemplating an easy victory at 154 against Cotto.

Which I believe Cotto will starch him at that weight not being weight drained.

Yuri is smart, he didn't want to continue fighting, but by continuing he gained a bigger and dumber fanbase.

    Cut the bull****!

Yuri is a very likeable guy and has nothing to be ashamed of(except for the constant running) but fighters are supposed to want to fight and not quit when the going gets tough.

You are all acting like you expect fighters to quit everytime a fight doesn't go their way:patsch.

    :huh

After rewatching Cotto-Foreman, I don't know. Seems as thoug he may have developed a little more authority and confidence. I guess I'm in the minority when I say I would like to see this rematch.

It wasn't as if he got put to sleep mercilessly. He did enough in my book to deserve a rematch.
