There is always a lot of controversy whenever Mayweather annouces a fight. His level of opposition is consistently under scrutiny. While other top fighters get credit for simply fighting current and former world champs, top 10 rated fighters in their division, and top 10 p4p fighters, the same is not neccesarily true for Mayweather. With that in mind, I'm going to attempt to create a list of fighters that mostly everyone can agree would be a worthwhile opponent for the 37 year old Mayweather. To save time, I'm not going to list anyone above JMW as pretty much any good fighter above JMW would be deemed as a worthy opponent. Feel free to add or subtract from my list; JWW - Danny Garcia, Ruslan Provodnikov WW - Tim Bradley, Manny Pacquiao, Keith Thurman, Shawn Porter JMW - Erislandy Lara, Carlos Molina, James Kirkland, Demetrius Andrade That's 10 fighters. Personally, I believe Garcia, Pacquiao, Thurman, Porter, and Molina all have a legit shot at being one of Mayweather's last 3 opponents on that contract he signed.
In my opening post I stated that I wasn't going to name anyone above JMW as any good fighter from MW on up would be deemed as an acceptable opponent. Therefore, guys like Golovkin, Martinez, Quillen etc. would all be included.
regardless point is mayweather always goes for low risk high reward he will never test himself stupid duck
GARCIA, ASK HIS ****ING DADDY! PROV, iF BRADLEY MESSED HIS FACE UP, WHAT WOULD FLOYD DO? Bradley, signed with corrupt bob via his wife? PAC, RAN FOR THE HILLS, AFTER TELLING FLOYD TO PAY HIM 10MILLION DOLLARS PER POUND WEIGHT PENALTY! FLOYD, YES SIR! THURMAN, PORTER- POSSIBLE LARA, MOLINA,KIRKLAND,ANDRADE, GGG, MARTINEZ- **** OFF AND FIGHT ANDRE WARD FOLKS!
Is it crazy that recent Mayweather opponents that have been bashed like Alvarez Gurerrero and coming up Maidana have better resumes/better recent accomplishments then half your list yet are deemed unacceptable
That's fine if you feel that way. However, there have been plenty of times when Mayweather has been accused of being afraid of a guy only to go on to fight him. It's easy to criticise someone's opposition after the fact. It's quite another thing to layout beforehand who you would personally deem to be worthwhile opponents and see how many, if any, of those guys he takes on.
1. Pac 2. Lara 3. Bradley 4. Garcia 5. Maidana 6. Porter 7. Thurman 8. Khan 9. Matthysse 10. Prov I think that's fairly accurate.
Every Mayweather opponent gets bashed once they sign to fight him. Instead of having people trying to rewrite history, why not come up with acceptable opponents beforehand?
Yeah, names of acceptable future opponents. Naming a guy in a wheelchair, and two other retired fighters seems pretty pointless in regards to the topic at hand.
maybe because mayweather is getting 40 million per fight and he needs to fight worthy opponents, not blown up super feather fists like gurerro , guys like ortiz who had 1 decent win, and JMM who had to leap from 2 divisions to fight him
Ok, so is Pacquiao still an acceptable opponent? So for example, let's say they both keep winning and fight in May of 2015, is that an acceptable fight?
