According to a certain poster, all of these fighters are faster than Roy.

6 punches in 5 seconds? You act like thats hard for Louis, you need to do more studying on him it appears. Thats almost 1 a second, my family could do that.

I have seen a good amount of Louis fights in now way shape or form does he fire off a 6 punch combo with the speed Jones had !! Not sure if the black white footage has blurred your vison but I have never considered Louis to be a fast HW ..Oh when is the last time any family memebr of yours thre a six punch combo in a prize fight ??

All because you never considered Louis to be fast doesn't mean he wasn't. I don't consider Michael Jackson to be white but...
The last time a family member fired off a 6 punch combo in a prize fight would be for me to know ;). Nice try though.

I suppose there are cases for Ali, Patterson, and Tyson. But still, they would be hard to argue in favor of when compared to Roy Jones. Personally, the only people I would put above Jones in the handspeed department are Meldrick Taylor at 140 and Hector Camacho at 130. But all around speed, including reflexes, upperbody movement, footspeed, and handspeed combined, I place Roy at the top of the list.

Jim Jeffries? Gene Tunney? Michael Dokes? Ezzard Charles? Jersey Joe Walcott? Archie Moore? No way

Wow. You want 6 or so punches in 5 seconds, just watch Louis-Schmeling II. He wasn't even trying to throw a fast combo. I didn't count but theres probably one in there somewhere. I don't know why you think thats hard.

And why would Louis have to throw at that type of speed on better film quality? He can be slower and still be faster p4p. You don't make any sense. This thread is pointless when people don't know what they're talking about.

He can be slower but still faster p4p ??? (Yet I don't make sense)Wow u have me speechless ..The fact that anyone thinks Joe Louis is faster than Roy Jones in hand speed makes me wonder if they think Turtles are faster than Cheetahs !!

And I agree when people don't know they are tlking about it does make the thread poiuntless !!

Wrong. This is why: while Jones at HW was still faster than Ali, Ali was a bit bigger. In that case, it makes it virtually even if that was Jones's prime speed. Then again, Jones's prime speed was at about 168, where he was much faster. In that case, the P4P scale tips favorably toward Jones.

I have viewed a lot of young Ali, for arguments of this nature especially, and Jones was, honestly, quite a ways faster.

    You are a dead****. Seriously.

Faster P4P means: Jones is faster, but his advantage in speed is not as large as his advantage in lower weight (in proportion), therefore Louis is faster P4P. I'm not saying it's true, I'm not saying it's not true... but that's what it means.

Are you serious kid? Let me teach you. Who would win in a fight, you ready? Wlad Klitschko or Floyd Mayweather Jr? Wlad brutally Ko's him. Agree? Good. Who is better pound-for-pound and would likely beat the other? Floyd Mayweather Jr. Understand hopefully? Good. Joe Louis can be slower than Roy Jones Jr, but pound-for-pound he can have faster hands. I should be getting paid for teaching you kids.

Louis' handspeed and Tyson's handspeed are often debated as to who's is faster, so you acting like its an easy question to answer is laughable. Do some research if you don't believe me.

And another one for 6 punches in 5 seconds (wow thats hard), this time I'll give one for Ali. Ready? This is for the other fellow posting here too. Ali-London. Ali landed 11 or 12 punches in 3 seconds. Leave the thread...please.

Jones was a phenomenally fast at SMW, the fastest ever there, bar none. Louis is easily eclipsed by others at HW, where the speedsters are rarer. Therefore Jones is, even P4P, much faster.
