According to a certain poster, all of these fighters are faster than Roy.

The general forum has a lower level poster as a whole. I love the sport and have followed it for a while, yet I'm frequently out of my depth in talking about old school fighters in the classic forum because the knowledge base is just so deep amongst the posters. I do like to lurk there though, and watch all the old footage I can get my hands on.

Fighters of today though, and of the past 20 years or so, I feel very comfortable discussing.

Thats good. I find the older fighters and their history to be more interesting but I watch boxing today and enjoy many of today's fighters.
The knowledge base in the classic forum does tend to be deep but you'll learn alot just by lurking possibly, and you may be able to teach them with some of your posts.

I think in a P4P sense...Ali is. But its arguable.

Only people I can think of that should even be in the same breathe as Roy in a convo about speed is....

Meldrick Taylor (only person I can honestly say is DEFINATELY faster...IMO of course)
    Zab Judah
    Ali
    Camacho
    SRL
    Whitaker
    Calzaghe
    Mayweather

Cant think of anyone else of the top of my head...but when you are talking Roy's speed...VERY VERY FEW people are in that convo.

That one wasn't too serious, but the rampaging Roy fans crack me up. Although a p4p case could be made for Jeffries (I'd lean toward Jones personally), but since people are saying Roy is p4p faster than Ali and others, I don't see much reasoning here. He was very fast for a man his size and very athletic as a whole. He could run 100 yards in under 11 seconds and was able to high jump to almost 6 feet. His only defeat came by Jack Johnson after a very long layoff. Very fast and powerful. Its highly reasonable to see him fast.

Jones was easily faster P4P than most on that list in my estimation. Tyson, Ali, and Patterson are close, but I would still favor Jones. There are alot of variables here.....

I would also say that the more articulate posters in the General forum are certainly just as logical and intelligent on the sport as the ones in the classic forum, however, the depth here is certainly shallow compared to the Classic Section or even the lounge in some cases.

I think it was in 2003 the Ring magazine ranked fighters in every weight by different criteria, and wrote something like Floyd Patterson had fast hands, same as Muhammad Ali, Roy Jones Jr is faster than both of them.
And that was, of course, blown up version of him in the Ruiz fight, P4P he is far ahead of both.

Exactly, that's what I've been saying. These two are deluded, to the highest degree. It's both sad and annoying.

Dokes could definitely give him a run in the speed department.
