according to dwyer , Calzaghe will lose his next fight

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by boxingcar, Oct 23, 2008.

  1. This guy does know his stuff. I supplement 1/3 of my yearly income through boxing bets - I wonder how much this guy does? A very very smart man indeed.

Joe's strength is underated though. Watch round 8 & you'll see a bodyshot that was going to stop Kessler had the ref not saved him :thumbsup

    People who could beat Calzaghe,
    Roy Jones/Bernard Hopkins/Kessler/Dawson/Froch/Pavlik(much less chance)

Calzaghe is not in his peak so we have to see how he is going from fight to fight. All of the above would have a chance against Calzaghe. Dont get me wrong I think Calzaghe can beat them all and I would have him favourite to beat them but its not a Joe is a cut above beats everyone end of discussion.

The guy, dwyer, was pretty spot on with his hopkins predicition and has a sound knowledge. Its only his opinion but hey lets not cut the discussion with 'this fighters the best. end of' the boxing forum will die if we dont discuss :good

Whats your take on Calzaghe Jones? How is the fight won?

A happy Calzaghe is quoted by Blair Wood for the South Wales Echo, stated in regards to Pavlik's loss: “It’s like Pavlik never existed. They kept going on about him but now he has completely gone. I love it."

Calzaghe added: “It’s good because he would have been a real pain if he had won. But now there is nothing he can say.”

This is why Cal is such a piece of ****!

Dude i aint saying **** about this guy dywer, he clearly knows his stuff and respect to him. Im just saying Calzaghes one of four or so guys who are the elite of what is actively boxing right now.

Anyways, i think he takes the jones fight mostly on heart in what i feel might be a mini classic because i feel that jones brings his A game in a quest for ultimate redemption. Im telling you right now, watch this fight. Im betting that Jones finds something for this one and takes the majority of the early rounds. But there is no way Calzaghe doesnt figure it out and steps on the gas. Jones going with him with everything he's got. At this point im thinking who wants it more? Who has more heart? Joe everytime.

His tactics are usually spot on once he figures the opponent out and adjusts.
Roy is past his prime but I dont think he is no threat at all like many.
I am looking forward to the fight, once he wins I want to see him beat dawson, forget hopkins again that was one ugly fight from b-hop.

Yeah thats what i mean, when he adjusts no one can live with him and because of the pace at which he conducts his business even if his opponent can do something about it, they will always only have the stamina to do it for a round or so and then bang Joes in control again. If he doesnt do that he just outboxes you but how do you outbox Jones? So I dont see him doing that.

But anyways, yeah id love to see the dawson fight that would be a great night and in truth i think, a great fight.

I actually wouldnt mind to see a Hopkins rematch in the hope he tries to actually fight, just like he did against Pavlik. Man that would be great. What a fight it would actually be, but Joe would beat him back into defensive mode after about 4 or 5 rounds. But I hear what you say because Hopkins would revert to Hugging like a ******, slevering on Calzaghes shoulder. Im not trying to be a **** to Bernard there im just saying what happened.

I agree with him on this one. I'm also going with Jones on this one.

also agree with him on Hatton/Malinaggi but I think it'll be an easier win for hatton then he's predicting

You need to take his **** out you ass for second... Joe is not invincible however he is a great fighter. He has the resume he has had for a reason. He didnt fight Johnson for a reason...and he won't fight Dawson for a reason. Will he beat Jones...Most likely but that more because Jones is not the Jones we knew 10 years ago. Joe desearves props he is great but he isn't one of the greatest to ever lace up. He probably won't ever lose a fight but then that because of his careful selection of opponents...

wont fight dawson for a reason. wind your neck in.
please dont even start a calzaghe ducking dawson rant. we have only just put the pavlic one to bed.
that statement is just ****ing ridiculous.
one win against a shot tarver and calzaghe is avoiding him.
and its no secret that he is retiring after the rjj fight.
