he is fast enough. that's what he's telling you. he has gotten this far with that speed and any reason to doubt that he can't continue is pure speculation. let his performance prove that he is unable to do it.

 Yes, those are the textbook counters, and a counter-puncher with excellent timing would pull those off nicely. But we're talking about Margarito here, someone who's not known for counter-punching, and certainly not known for his quickness off the draw. You saw this by how badly Cotto was outclassing him early on, mainly with his ability to simply land first.

Well first let's look at a few HL's to illustrate my first point regarding Cotto's quickness off the draw and Margarito's slowness of hand.

:huh He's certainly much faster than Margarito.

But this is to be continued. I'm off to bed.

i dont understand why margarito's inability to counter is a liability for him when exchanging with cotto. he simply gets on front and unloads regardless of what cotto throws, he just don't ****ing care. cotto was doing exceptional countering but he is still the one that gets hurt.

    Cotto on why he didn't work the body;

"It's very easy to be on the outside looking in and see the fights in a very different way than we see them in the ring. We didn't work the body because we were not able to. We did not find a way to attack his body and that's why we didn't," Cotto said. "There was a plan A, plan B and a plan C. If you watch the rounds in details, you will see that we utilized different strategies. We did everything in our power."

Im not trying to be rude when I say this but he rarely even threw at the body to attempt a body attack. He head hunted.

    Unless he's saying that I never even tried because I couldn't ?

    Nice avatar!

Imo Cotto is the more complete and yes, better boxer but Margarito has more heart, will and the better chin and so is the better fighter - not to mention his stylistical advantage. That doesn´t take anything away from Margarito.

Oscar wouldn't fight Margo at 147 and Margo is horrible at 154.

    Oscar would beat him.

    Margarito on the fight:

"I honestly felt Cotto could've beaten me if he had just utilized a consistent body attack throughout the fight. I punch wide and am vulnerable to body shots in those instances. Also, regardless of what Ambition_Def from ESB said, my guard does come up when I get hit to the head, you have but to watch replays to see that. I expect Cotto to beat me in the rematch with a better gameplan."

Well, that about evens it up I guess. But seriously, could you take me to a link of where you found that quote? If he actually did say all that I'll end this argument right now.

Exactly. If you have a trained eye for this **** it is as clear as round 1. Cotto always tries to get respect first by hitting the head and then once they back up and bring their guard up he goes downstairs. He does this EVERY fight.

Cotto tried man. He did everything in his power and it just wasn't enough that night. This talk like Margarito is crude and one dimensional is a bull**** argument for JUNIORS of the forum. Enough said.

He IS the better overall fighter.

Is Mayorga a better fighter than Forrest? Not the same thing, but same prospect. The guy who wins isn't necessarily the better overall fighter.

He lost the battle but not the war? He expects that to be convincing when he just basically said he couldn't do **** against this guy and no strategy would work? **** Cotto, he just lost me an argument.:bart
