he is the only World champion really isnt he. Ring magazine champion isnt classed as world champion and IBO doesnt count for ****. Cookie is the only one.

 

Sounds like something Warren has spouted off to hype this rip off of a show...

Britain has no world champions.

 

SKy changed their policy not long ago. They only allow fights from the big four. I believe exceptions were made for IBO and Ring belt.

 

Truth is that British Boxing is due for a bit of a bad run... 1995 and there were 15 fighters good enough to be in Boxing Monthlys world ratings... fast forward and we've got 8 and some of those shouldn't be there. Funny thing is the Sports Network way of building fighters up doesn't seem to be impressing the people in the know wonder why??

 

Because they build them up for a crash, rather than from success.

Hatton and Calzaghe probably made it to the top despite Warren, rather than because of him.

Other than hold them back, what did he actually do for them?

He was drafted in as an easy first defence for Arthur yet won the fight easily.

Warren probably didn't have a clue what to do next - he needs to maximise revenue for Khan to balance the books, and thus they needed to share a card.

In truth, Khan ought to be in an 8 rounder on an undercard somewhere with nobody watching, and Cook ought to be main event on FFN or chief support to somebody else, either here or in the US.

Trouble is......

Warren doesn't have anyone, or a slice of anyone (as he did with Freitas) that would be headlining a bill at the appropriate time. To me, there is no real reason why he couldn't fight Juarez on the DLH vs Pac bill (good learning experience) - with Mitchell vs whoever + someone else vs TBA and Khan vs ***an over here on FFN.

 

Cook probably doesn't have a choice.

No doubt the terms of his deal with Warren for the Arthur fight had plenty of clauses, namely.....

Warren does come across as a complete control freak - now I suppose certain fighters are quite happy to work in that environment, whereby they don't have to take risks and can earn a reasonable living.

 

Bloody hell the only legitimate champ we have and it is the WBO strap. Poor.
The ring magazine belt dont count thats like some fan favourite belt. The IBO and WBU shouldnt really exist to be honest, they are crap. The European belt has more lustre than those pieces of ****, I wouldnt wipe my ass with the IBO Belt. Those governing bodies have put boxing in the gutter.
