Without the influence of my Pop, I wouldn't be a boxing fan either. We watched fights on TV when I was a youngster and he took me to local amateur fights and later as I grew older we have had the chance to go to pro fights.

One of my greatest memories is he took the family to Atlantic City for Tyson-Spinks. Forget that it was only 91 seconds ... we also went to see cards with old George Foreman and Hector Camacho and Azumah Nelson in the days leading up to the big event, and, again, some of my most cherished memories (along with me and Pop going to Detroit to see our Tigers play a few years ago).

Well, not trying to hijack the thead (and not looking for sympathy), but allow me to share this with you:

Almost 2 1/2 years ago, my wife died very suddenly and very unexpectedly. I would wish that on no one, but the biggest lesson from it was to take time to cherish the people around you who you love, because they can be taken away at any time.

I don't know when it will be, but the time will come when I won't be able to watch a fight with my Pop ever again, and $100 is a small price for that.

(Plus he's bringing wings!)
