Shout out to Hulkmania for posting this article in the first place and trying with google translate.

    Enjoy.

El Nuevo Día – How did you see Miguel in training?

Pedro Luis – Not just in today’s work, but during all the days, I’ve seen him as we had planned out the training. Very good and getting better.

You’re all going to see a much stronger and much faster Miguel. If we’re talking about how Mayweather is a much faster boxer (than Margarito), and with a good defense, we have to find all alternatives to finish with his defense and neutralize his sped. And that’s what we’re doing, working towards that. It’s an important element of the victory.

END – 30 days out from the fight with Mayweather, how do you see Miguel’s preparation in comparison with his training for the Margarito fight?

PL – Miguel is ready to fight when he wants to. He’s good, good, in the stage of the transformation, from average burdens to special burdens, which is a very important stage in preparation. He’s in very good condition.

END – Do you see him better adapted to the training now that it’s his second camp with you?

PL – He now has a technology which has already been applied. He’s now familiar with many of the things, and seems better.

END – We noticed many exercises and routines that weren’t present previous to the training camp before the rematch with Margarito. To who is that owed?

PL – You’re going to see a superior Miguel. And for that new things were needed. This morning we worked with weights. And we finished up here in the gym working with a combination of things, with an incredible pulse, with an incredible lactation (meaning lactic acid in the muscles), and with very good urea (sweating). With his basal pulse being very good for the stage he’s in. Basically, we’re working with optimal circumstances for the stage in which we find ourselves.

END – One of Mayweather’s principle strengths is his capacidy to adjust continuously and neutralize the opposing style. How do you think to deal with that?

PL – He can adapt 100 times in the fight, because Miguel is going to break his adaptation. That doesn’t worry me. So he can adapt all he wants, he can be fast, he can have the best defense in the world. None of that is going to lose us any sleep.
With defense, with speed, with adaptation, we’re going to beat him, in his own backyard! We’re going to win. Forget about that.

END – Miguel used his superior displacement (ring generalship) a lot in his rematch with Margarito, who presented limited movement in the ring. Mayweather is the total opposite. Will it be a fight in which Miguel would have to apply pressure?

PL – It’s going to be a great fight, with the victory belonging to Miguel.

END – Are the new exercises a way to keep Miguel motivated during training?

PL – That’s a personal problem. Men have motivations in their life. And this fight for Miguel is going to mark him as the best pound for pound in the world. He’s facing the best pound for pound in the world. So, I think that for him that’s a great motivation, to show Puerto Rico, to show the Latinos and show all the world that he’s a great champion. And that there’s gonna be a champion for a while.

END – What did you think of the bout of Mayweather against Ortiz?

PL – I was there (at the fight). It was a mayweather who knew how to take advantage of the right moments. An a Victor Ortiz who after committing a (mistaken) act, went on to apologize excessively. To men, you give apologies one time, period. If you already apologized to him for it, why do you keep on apologizing? You lowered your hands, and the blow came.

END – Mayweather is a genius in psychological warfare before and during the fight. He demonstrated it with Victory Ortiz, with Zab Judah, and others. How they say in Puerto Rico, he “brings in the goats” (deceives them) to his rivals. He intimidates them, he insults them, he shakes them up. Do you have a plan to avoid or counter these games?

PL – Here there are no goats, or anything that’s going to get into Miguel. What does Mayweather’s brain has that Miguel’s brain doesn’t? I don’t care for games or tricks. With whatever’s coming, we’re going to decode it. Whatever comes!

END – Although he was dominated and beaten by knockout, Ortiz in the first rounds succeeded in connecting on Mayweather, something which surprised many observers. Did you see something in Mayweather during that fight that told you-at 34 years old-now he’s starting to decay, to fade as a boxer?

PL – I see something in Miguel, which is that he’s rising. The other one, I see, but I don’t comment.

END – But did you notice, or not, a fading in his composure, or something like that?

PL –Well of course I saw it, I was there present. But I don’t want to comment on it. You’ll all see it on the day of May 5th, when Cotto gets his hands on him.

END – Cotto is a small super welter. Mayweater is almost of the same stature. Does the weight of this fight still favor Miguel?

PL – That’s Miguel’s division. Whoever comes here, he’s going to break their life in two. Forget about that. Whoever comes, goes.

And afterward, if we want to move up (to 160lbs), we’ll tear that up as well.

END – We noticed in you to be more relaxed, calmer, and also more joking during this training. Why is that? Do you feel more comfortable in your second run with Cotto?

PL – I’ve been “operated on” for my nerves (meaning, they don’t bother him.) Same thing for the first fight just as in this one, mine is cold blood, and let’s go forward. None of this intimidates me or impresses me. Mayweather doesn’t take away any sleep from me.

END - The speed of Miguel was key in the rematch with Margarito. Will that strength this time be a key, against Mayweather, who’s very fast?

PL – We’re going to utilize preparation, hands, and tactics. That will be the victory. Miguel is going to win each of the 12 rounds, depending if Mayweather makes it (to the 12th).

END - Miguel had one of his best works done in the rematch with Margarito. Many think that he looked like a thousand wonders. What would you like to improve from that fight to this one?

PL – A thousand wonders more so that he looks like 2,000 against Mayweather.

    END – But specifically.

PL – Improve? That the victory be much faster. We’re working hard for the victory. I know that it’s coming, but I don’t know when. What’s more, the trainers who say when (their fighter is going to win), I’ve never said that, because it’s pure theory, it’s just a story. Boxing is a sport where you need preparation, tactics, and potent hands. The rest is demonstrated in the ring.

    Cool translation. Thanks!

Mayweather's still gonna beat the breaks off of Cotto though.

That would be quite the statement if Cotto were to win all 12 rounds, or up until he stops Mayweather. That is one of the boldest predicitions I have ever come across from a trainer!

Diaz goes about his job like a damn scientist, and he sounds very confident. Is he too confident though?

Floyd isn't very skilled so it doesn't really matter. His defence is good but not great. All he is, is speed. he also does not have capability to throw a combination. He also never goes to the body. His style is easy to work out and very one dimensional. any trainer with half a brain would get any world class fighter to beat floyd.

He's confident, but the word that describes his demeanor is more like stern; he's not so much inspired and passionate (which helps, but will only get you so far), but insistent, cold, and calculating. It seems like the way someone would act in a life or death situation, actually. "Forget about how hard the task is or what I can or can't do, this is something I must do." And so he goes about his business ignoring all other considerations.

Right now Diaz is doing a wonderful job with Miguel especially the mental aspect aside from all the great new physical and strength training/exercising. I love the part were he says we will break anyones life in half at 154 and even 160:good

This Pedro character is pretty cold, isn't he?

That's how it seems, anyway. From reading his interviews and watching how he interacts with Cotto in videos, he has this military attitude about him.
