Prime Frietas would give Marquez problems early with his speed and power, and probably even hurt/drop Marquez. But Frietas didn't really have the mental toughness nor the stamina to maintain it. Marquez takes him apart in the late rounds, and probably stops him circa 11.
Which version of Freitas shows up. Freitas' trainer, Orlando Suarez tried to get him to do a 'Barrera' by converting him from a brawler into a boxer. It was a strange transition though. Instead of fighting more patiently off the back foot, picking shots more judiciously, and working behind a high guard and a jab, Freitas incorporated a ton of helter-skelter footwork with his hands slung low. It also cost him most of his power, because he started to throw a lot more cuffing, arm-punches. You can't say it was totally ineffective because he did beat Joel Casamayor and Artur Grigorian with those tactics, but it's not enough to beat Marquez. I think Marquez would be content to let Freitas edge a few early rounds on workrate while patiently working the body to zap Freitas' energy.
