It really says it all that even this "super fight", which was like Brazil's domestic equivalent to Mayweather vs. Pacquiao, wasn't even held in Brazil.. :-(

No doubt!!! the feel good story of the year in boxing. couldn't be happier.....erases the bad taste of the shitty showtime card that was an epic fail

Good win Popo. Makes up for him quitting against Corrales in my book.

I didn´t blame him that much after the Corrales fight, but against Diaz yes.....was bad.

BUT we shouldn´t forget what he did against Barrios......he showed great heart in that fight !! One of the best I ever seen.....

I´m bumping this because it was one of the best things in 2012 and people forgot about it.

Yeah, it was an awesome story.

    Freitas' redemption, and Oliveira's comeuppance.

Indeed it was. The Scene put up a long list of the comebacks of 2012 the other day and didn't even mention Freitas. Not sure I'd put him above their winner Danny Jacobs, but if not for Danny he'd be a lock IMO.

As a human interest story, Jacobs' ought to rank higher.

As an actual sports comeback, Freitas' is way above his.

Popo was more than five years retired, blown up three divisions from his career weight, against a young unbeaten puncher.

Jacobs spent a year and a half out of the ring, and close to a year of that was post-recovery with plenty of time spent getting into his old shape, conditioning, and form/sharpness before returning - to his original weight class. He then beat two nobodies from the Midwestern circuit on a drastically lower level than Oliveira (who, granted, did get exposed somewhat against Freitas but is still leagues above Fitzpatrick and Luteran)

Got my vote - and that's coming from a huge Marquez fan!!

(of course, to me JMM beating Pacquiao wasn't some massive achievement since he'd done it thrice already :D)
