I've encountered his name a few times. I just know he's a huge puncher and a good finisher. I recognise a good few names on his resume such as Alfred Kotey (past best im guessing), Joel Casamayor, Juan Ramirez, Jorge Barrios, Artur Grigorian, Diego Corrales, Zaheer Raheem and Juan Diaz. I saw he came back this weekend so it piqued my interest. How good was he at his best?

    Very good IMO.......
One of the best right hands at the time......wasn´t too skilled, and his last trainer ruined his style in the end of his career.. (Oscarr Suarez RIP)......

His comeback this saturday was very interesting to see....he looked REALLY good !!

Big puncher, not too special chin, a good combination for most fans.

I am led to believe his comeback was a 'one off'. A grudge match against a bit of novice, who had been using his name, to get a bit of publicity.

He could have been a lot better than he was, which was darn good, if Oscar Saurez hadnt ruined his style.

What did this trainer do to his style?

He altered his natural style from a slugger to a boxer. Freitas was not a boxer and was far more effective as a slugger. His athleticism allowed him to get away with many mistakes against lesser opponents after this change but up against top flight opponents he got caught making mistakes. Saurez just sucked. A good trainer trains a fighter within that fighters style and abilities. Saurez always tried to shoehorn fighters into his particular style which really hampered and limited them.

You have disgraced the classic section of ESB by starting a thread about Freitas. Have you no shame?

    so do I .
Corrales and Castillo had very serious problems making weight throught their careers as did Pacquiao below 122 and most probably until 130 and including .
should i repeat d stories behind Jones vs Toney , Leonard vs Benitez , Leonard vs Hearns , Leonard vs Duran #2 ? there r so many more examples 2 it .
