who are the ones you think have exceeded, fairly met, or failed in meeting the level of expectation you have for them based on their raw talent, circumstances, opportunities, and background?

The thing about Zab Judah is that he had trouble adapting in fights when he was losing, or got hurt. He had a tendency to go into a defensive shell and look for one bomb (the left uppercut).

Early on, he didn't seem that way. Micky Ward, we all know he wasn't the most talented guy, but he had a killer left hook to the body. A young Judah fought controlled in that fight, and came back strong after getting hurt to the body. He rose the from deck to beat Jan Bergman, and also to beat Terron Millett later on. Those fights showed some of his sloppiness in getting caught, but I liked how he came back after getting dropped. He even stunned Millett shortly after getting dropped.

You wouldn't think from those fights that he had that front-runner mentality, but it showed later on.

A better question is where do you think Floyd falls in this?

fails to meet expectations. given his talent and how lucky he was to start out early fundamentally, it's only logical for fans to want to see him against top opposition with a fairly active fight schedule.

    you can't say that.
You can say he didnt surpass expectations at most.
    He's a 5 weight belt holder.
How many people have done that.

at 147 he failed to meet expectations by not fighting a few guys.
But under that weight he exceeded.

He exceeded at first, but his brittle hands and Arum was his downfall

at 140 and up, yes he has been frustrating with inactivity and choice of opponents as he opted for high reward low risk fights. i stand corrected, at the lower weights, yes he meets or even exceeds expectations.

I think he definitely exceeded when he was below 140.
Most people had Corrales winning and Floyd sparked him
Angle Manfredy was supposed to be the hot fighter and be a tough fight and he got handled in 2
Genaro only had 1 lost to Oscar before and was undefeated at superfeatherweight then he lost to the 21 year old Floyd

They were calling him the next Sugar Ray Leonard in his early days, but I guess he didn't meet expectations once he got in the lime light above 140

I dont understand why people always say Zab I think he achieved allot and for the talent he had. For me Tyson underachieved obviouly because of things outside of boxing but he could have been one the ATG under the right conditions.

good one. tyson faded very early in his career and could have achieved a lot more.

Williams and Dawson still young and hitting their prime, did you forgot when Pacroid was koed by Torrecampo and sing? Those two can rebound and I'm sure they will.

I would call Mosley an overachiever. Who would have expected him to get a fight with the 2nd best fighter in the sport after getting whooped badly by the top dog and looking silly against Mora?
