Does anybody know what's going on and how to fix it?

My achilles tendon has been real weak and stiff lately. It's not really swollen and it's not painful. It's healed up some, but still not back to normal and I don't have much time to rest it. I'm pretty light on my feet usually and can spring off my toes, but I have none of that recently.

About 3 weeks ago, I was exercising at least twice a day and sometimes more. I'd train during the day and then play basketball. Then the next day, I'd go lift weights. Next day I'd jumprope for 20 minutes. I kept up a schedule like that and it wasn't really too much of an issue at first, but then my legs started to slow down and I healed them finally along with shin splints had, but now my achilles is messing up.

It was so bad at one point last week that I could barely walk and sat on my butt all day. That was the first day they really started becoming an issue. Before was my shinsplints, but I did some strengthening rehab on them and they went away, but at the same time it started to make my lower leg tight

    Wtf is going on

You said its healed up, what was wrong previously?

    Could be this: [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Achilles_tendinitis[/ame]

Rest, and ice might be your only options

That could be it, but I wasn't sure. And it's healed up some, but not all the way. I've rested it enough (at least I thought) for it to be normal again

If you dont cut the impact out, things will get worse. Plus it wont stop there.

The best thing you could probably do is to have it examined by someone preferably with medical training. You could also allow it total rest for a few more weeks, maybe tape it up to restrict plantar flexion, then slowly rehab it back to full strength.

My old trainer's boxing career ended with an Achilles tendon rupture...that's some scary ****.

I had problem recently from running lonmg distance.

Rest - to recover - even if you feel your losing fitness - you need to rest it.

Get a foot ankle strap to help support it.

And build up gradually - too much too soon - puts to much stress on foot.

I had it too before......I always thought it was because of a certain exaggerated time I spent doing jump rope.....
Now I don´t jump rope too much (my new trainer just don´t say to me to do it often) and never had it anymore.....

I fricken love jumproping :-( it keeps me fleet footed.

I've taken the last 2 days off though and it feels decent, but still not healed up. I may try rehabbing it today

A majority of the glutamine that you take in via oral supplementation is lost at the gut level. It's also very gluconeogenic, which means that the majority of the already small percentage of the glutamine that is absorbed is likely going to be converted to glucose.

Studies show that glutamine supplementation does nothing for recovery :good
