Robert Shaw A.K.A. Quint in Jaws should have won an Oscar for best suppporting actor. The speech he gave on the ship of the USS Indianapolis was excellent as was his performance in general portraying the slaty fisherman captain.

Deontay Wilder for his legendary catchphrases:
"Speak it. Believe it. Receive it"
    "BOMBSQUAD!"
    "TO THIS DAY!"
"I want a body on my record"
"Your body gonna be laying right there" (Wilder points to the ground at Fury at the Wilder/Fury I press conference)
"A king don't chase peasants. A king chases kings"
"I know I'm the best. Is you up for the test?"

And so many more that I can't recall right now...

I love the thread topic and loved Robert Shaw in jaws. Probably a topic for the lounge though. Incidentally there was a very subtle cut in the scene during Quint’s tale of the Indianapolis where they had to stop filming and finish the shoot the next day because Robert Shaw was too drunk.

From what I've read, he was kind of a tool. Very difficult to deal with.

Sometime back in the 90s there was a documentary of the making of jaws. By that point Shaw was already diseased. But Richard dreifuss talked in depth about his off screen rivalry with Shaw. Roy Scheider ( who played Brody ) and the production crew confirmed it. Things got heated.

Stacy Keach for Fat City, a highly underrated boxing flick and one of my favorites.

    Oscar's, after the 1990s, are a joke.

Shaw disliked the original, scripted version of this speech so, with permission, rewrote it himself.

Best Boxing film ever made. The actress who played Oma was nominated for Best Supporting Actress. A lot of ex pro's in it too. Curtis Cokes plays a lovely cameo as Earl.

Although this is in the wrong thread, I am a bit of a movie buff. So I enjoy questions like this.

    Paul Newman "Cool Hand Luke"
    Richard Attenborough "10 Rillington Place"
    Al Pacino "Serpico"
    Al Pacino "Godfather Part 2"
    Robert De Niro "Taxi Driver"
    Gary Busey "Buddy Holly Story"
    Tom Hulce "Amadeus"
    Denzel Washington "Hurricane"
    Edward Norton "American History X"
Daniel Day Lewis "Gangs Of New York"

    For Best Supporting Actor

    James Caan "The Godfather"
    Laurence Olivier "Marathon Man"
    Joe Pesci "Raging Bull"
    Tom Berenger "Platoon"
John Malkovich "In The Line Of Fire" or Ralph Fiennes "Schindlers List"
    Edward Norton "Primal Fear"
Michael Clarke Duncan "The Green Mile"
    Ben Kingsley "Sexy Beast"
    Paul Newman "Road To Perdition"

I heard that speech was done in one long take aswell, while drunk is it even more impressive. Robert Shaw also got the story from a real life friend of his. Although he obviously changed bits here and there for the character.

If you want to see another great monologue which you've probably never seen, look at this one from Gary Busey in "Surviving The Game". The movie itself is not really well known and it's not the best movie, although it certainly is entertaining. But this monologue was very memorable, and one of the best monologues from a movie you wouldn't expect.

Peter O'Toole for My Favourite Year. Just his luck to be up against Ben Kingsley's Gandhi.
