This content is protected It definitely seems to have been biased, but what do you call it? Draw KO? Supposodly the round had ended should they have fought on? The way Wolgast lands on top of it makes it even more of a mess.
I think its much ado about nothing. If you watch closely Wolgast had Rivers going, he knocks him down then trips on top of him. Wolgast lands on Rivers knee. Rivers later said there was a punch which hurt Wolgast but there was no punch. Hence it was a trip after the legit knock down so the ref made the right call in getting Wolgast up and counting over Rivers.
The press was really hard on the ref. Some even claimed he hadnt counted to 10 but if you watch the film in real time (the version above is slightly slowed) you will see rivers was down for more than 10 seconds. Rivers big beef initially was that he had been fouled, not that he dropped Wolgast legitimately and the ref helped Wolgast up. He changed his story later. Wolgast was breaking him in half with bodyshots there at the end and thats what put Rivers down. When Wolgast fell over him Rivers hadnt even landed a punch. Wolgast even said that Rivers kneeing him was unintentional.
