That's fine, you can believe what ever you want as to what you saw, but in no way have I protested the result in any way. I am perfectly fine with the result. It sounds like you're protesting the result by acting like G clearly won. I understand the reality very well that it is clearly a fight that can be interpreted in various ways. You indicated that long-time observers of the sport recognize the "reality" that G won, which is disrespectful to me as a long-time observer of the sport. The only reality that there is is that the fight was a draw, and that Canelo won several more rounds on the cards than G did. If you disagree with that, then you're the one protesting. That's your right to disagree with the judges, but don't act like those that agree with the judges are somehow protesting because they may not agree with your scoring lol.

Canelo deserved it, but it was pretty close. You can make a case for a draw or for G winning.

    Yeah.

While I felt GGG clearly won the fight, there are some good observers who felt it was a draw. Credible people.

    - Chris Mannix
    - Lance Pugmire
    - Kenny Porter

McGrain also apparently had it a draw.

None of those four people, to my knowledge, is any kind of "Canelo homer." So while I may not agree with their scorecard, there does appear to be at least some merit in having the fight even. Despite a majority of observers seemingly having the bout in GGG's favor.

Nothing is getting overturned. I very much doubt there will be any official protest or investigation, either. Including of Byrd.

There's plenty of merit to having Canelo winning also, particularly from boxing fans who are students of the sweet science.

    No chance in hell.

This judge might eventually get removed although I wouldn't count on it. Not like they won't have a replacement lined up. There will always be somebody dodgy to take the hits for the promoter.

Unless there is a change that I don't see coming.

I decided not to order GGG/canelo and I saved myself much aggravation. Paying my hard earned money to see another runner unjustly rewarded because of politics is a travesty that has become commonplace in the boxing world. I feel terrible for Gennady and wish the true champion well.

They could look into the 118-110 if it's decided that's a good use of tax payers money in that country.

But the other cards weren't rigged I don't think.

Do you score fights 100% on clean punching? I agree Canelo landed the better, cleaner punches, many snapped GGG's head back. And he had the better defence, he would partially block and ride with punches to take the sting out of them. But scoring I don't think can be reduced to that. Canelo was too inconsistent. If he landed 7 clean punches in a 20 second spurt, then GGG lands 5 over the rest of the round while throwing twice as many and pressuring hard while Canelo backs up, sorry that's a GGG round. I basically break rounds down into four 45 segments and try to score each segment to gather who won the whole round, I don't know if that's done by most others, but I think it makes sense. I liked Canelo's quality, but sometimes quantity has to be credited.

    All right.

I don't think there's a very good defense for Byrd's card. I doubt one will turn up. Even the head of the NAC said Byrd "had a bad night."

So let's look at statistics. Canelo did land more power shots in 7 of the rounds, but he was overall out-landed in the bout by about 50 shots. And he was on the back foot.

From the other thread I put up, we're at about 80% of educated (or apparently educated) observers who felt GGG won.

If 66% of the official judges had GGG winning, he wins the fight.

This is why Byrd's "rogue card" is important. If a more-competent (at least on this night) judge is scoring the fight, then there seems like there would be a significant probability that GGG wins.

Saying "the fight is a draw", to me, is like saying Kovalev lost Ward 1 or Pacquiao lost Bradley 1. It is true, but that's not the point. The point is was a draw a deserved outcome, and an outcome that is likely with different judges in a neutral location. That is my point. And my guess is "no, it's not likely."

I made my comment about Vegas judging, which has a history of suspect outcomes. And I stand by what I said. If I were GGG, I would go fight for the other belt before I rematched Canelo in Vegas. And I'm not sure I would rematch Canelo in Vegas, at all, given how the scoring went tonight and based upon the history of Vegas scoring.

You don't have to agree with me. That's your choice. If you like Canelo and felt Canelo won, ok. But there are not a whole bunch of people, it would seem, who agree with you. Particularly ones who aren't affiliated with Golden Boy and who are not from Mexico.

I'm not here to tell you what to feel. You came to me, and I replied to you.

I'm watching the post-fight presser right now. Montero asks Loeffler about a possible investigation of Byrd at abut 6:15 into the video.

It does not sound like Loeeffler is looking to make any protest.

If the fighter's team doesn't protest, nothing's going to happen.

I think Pac-Bradley 1 got investigated because the Philippines was in a collective outrage after that bout (I might be wrong on that, not sure what/who set off the backlash). I doubt that will happen in GGG's favor here.
