    I scored it 117-111 Trout.:D

That's a terrible scorecard from Byrd though.

I scored for Trout originally as well, but had it much closer.

I picked Trout for the upset, so I thought I'd been biased the first time around, so when I rewatched it, I still had it Trout 116-112. No way can that match be viewed as a win for Cotto.

I just want to point out that Adalaide Byrd was the only judge who scored Hopkins over Calzaghe 114-113.

The other two judges had it wide for Calzaghe 116-111 & 115-112.

There's a lot of boxing fans I've heard who think to this day that B Hop really beat Calzaghe. Well Byrd was the only judge who had that in favor of BHop, and the only judge that had that fight really close.

Hmm thanks for pointing that out.
Do we really need more prove for her level of incompetency?

That was a dreadful fight. Should have been scored an "L" for both of them.

What's the point of this thread though ?
The people who agree with Byrd's score for Hopkins over Calzaghe don't have to admit 118-110 Alvarez must be cool too then. It doesn't work like that.

Note : Almost everybody had that fight extremely close, regardless of who they thought won. So I guess it's fair to say that Byrd's score of B Hop was the cloest to reality, the closest of the 3 judges to the consensus of it being extremely close. There is some consistency here as well with Byrd preferring the work of the counter puncher outboxer (Hopkins / Canelo) vs the come forward pressure fighter (Calzaghe / Triple G)

Ask yourself this, even if you thought Calzaghe won, how close did you think it was? Was it a 116-111 kind of a fight, a 115-112 kind of a fight, or was it a razor close 114-113 kind of a fight? Need I remind you that everybody hotly debated who they thought won that fight, if I recall there was a fairly even split of people thinking B Hop won vs people thinking Calzaghe won.

Even if you thought Calzaghe won, fine but at least there's some consistency from her preferring the work of the counter puncher.

Watched that fight countless times, Calzaghe won handily. Byrd is blinder than a bat.

I've heard countless respectable boxing fans recently state that they thought Hopkins won that fight. Personally if I recall I thought Calzaghe won as well, but it was certainly a hard to score fight, and the general consensus seemed to be that it "could have went either way".

It seems to me at least based on these two fights alone that Bryd prefers defensive counter punchers. Do you think that's sure-fire corruption or just her personal preference? Surely some judges prefer come forward fighters and some prefer defensive masters who make their opponent miss and land the cleaner shots.

Difference being Byrds score wasn't nearly as outrageous in the case of BHOP/Hopkins. 114-113 as opposed to 118-110, also doesn't explain the theme of bad cards in Canelo fights.

good win for joe against a guy who was still world class. Cemented joe as a world class fighter.

Appalling fight though.Started out quantity vs quality, then went to ...well quantity versus dirty, empty tank.

Calzaghe barely landed a glove on Hopkins.
I think that fight should have been stopped after a few rounds and declared a "NO CONTEST".
Hopkins hardly did any fighting after round 1, and Calzaghe was incapable of landing a proper punch, just flailed away like he had some sort of palsy.
    Pathetic.

At least Golovkin and Alvarez looked like they were having a boxing match.

Except for the flash knockdown, Calzaghe dominated, Hopkins played a spoiler but his stamina can not contain Calzaghe workrate and tried to cry foul to buy rest time. I had it 8-4 or 3 rounds for calzaghe.

And also Calzaghe is not the A side and the fight was in America, so there was no favoritism involved.
The only thing consistent about her is turning in out of whack scorecards.
