People forget that you can be a great trainer yet still have your fighters defeated. He has and is bringing fighters through at a steady pace and developed them early. Even if Groves loses Booth and him can learn from it and grow stronger. Remember Roach was class until PAc got beat in some eyes. There are loads of reasons boxer lose and it's not all down to the trainer
I don't see how you could lavish him with any praise should Haye beat Fury, the general consensus is Haye is levels above so it should be a pretty standard win. If Groves can beat Froch however he'll quite rightly be praised to within an inch of his life. I can only envisage Groves winning if he gets his tactics spot on, obviously that's going to come from Booth.
Is he still training Aydin? Not heard much about him recently... career seems to have pretty much fizzled out since his loss to Guerrero.
One thing i personally think gets missed alot... IMO in 95% of cases the fighter makes the trainer... look at roach, he's a good example... he's a good trainer but pacquiao would of been a good fighter no matter who he had as his trainer... khan goes to roach and gets ko's and beat... has nothing to do with trainers, they can;t fight for you. There are cases where i give trainers credit, such as training somebody from a young age, a little like ward and virgil.. Trainers can only do so much for you unless they have years and years and years to help you
Fair comment but booth has put years into haye and groves, he does tend to keep his stable small and give them lots of attention Top trainer but - probably like most trainers, ingle springs to mind - the material has to suit his style Trainers can definitely bring out a lot in fighters
This is probably off topic, but: Why is Booth regarded as a master tactician? His tactics with Haye vs Klit very pretty embarrassing in the end. Groves done well to get the win against Degale but I actually had Degale winning by one round. I want Groves to beat Froch but don't really see why people think that Adam Booth has this ace up his sleeve and will bamboozle Froch's gameplan. Where is the proof that he's done this before?
I remember after the groves v anderson fight, everyone was saying George needed to drop booth because he being turned into a David Haye rip off, the turn around has been remarkable.
As said above, I don't see what Haye could have done differently? Groves was a massive underdog vs DeGale so that was a huge win.
I don't see what I would've done has to do with it. I'm not the one who apparently has a knack of breaking opponents with superior tactics and insight. For what it's worth though, I would've liked to see Haye take a lot more risks earlier in the fight. Klit had been blown out early in the past so despite being better defensively, it still would have been worth a gamble. In either case, the fight was pretty much over entering the 2nd half of the fight.
